Aloha!
I cannot recall whether or not I have sent a reply to your message yet or not.
However, Sifu Al has been a friend of mine since 1994, and I just saw him most
recently at the Martial Arts Collective Society Gathering in Portland two years
ago. He was smiling big as usual and great to talk to.
I only trained with him for less than a year while in a state of transition in
Kajukenbo. I also used to teach martial arts in Hillsboro, Oregon. Sifu Al's
brother Ben Dacascos was also running a school on Baseline Avenue (a tobacco
shop is there last time I saw) in addition to the already popular Canyon
Boulevard school that Sifu Al had been running for years. Sometimes I would get
some food and drop by and chat with Sifu Ben. I have also met Mark on more than
one occasion, and used to see him at Sifu Al's school back before he got
"famous". Our school used to help with the Beaverton parade and Lion Dance. The
Dacascos family has ALWAYS been very warm and courteous to me. I have many great
memories knowing them and Sifu Al never forgets my face - no matter how many
years go by.
MAY GOD BLESS HIM FOR A QUICK AND SAFE RETURN HOME TO FAMILY AND AMERICA!
My prayers are with you all. God bless!!!
