Att. Grand Master "Uncle" Max
and/or MAX!,
It's me, Ed Piepenbrink, and still here in San Jose. I sure miss you
a lot! I wish I could join you up in Las Vegas. I have had you in my
thoughts and prayers all this time. I will always be your grateful
student and friend. Not one person such as you has impacted my life
in such a strong, yet peaceful way! So a great big bear hug to
you...my friend and now Grand Master!
Would you be able to refer me to someone here in San Jose who knows
and hopefully practices your method and style? I've been trying to
locate anyone from our 1998-2001 classes to no avail. There's A.K.A.,
etc., but there's been no one I have found that has trained under
you... Try as I might, I'm not a very good detective on the internet
or in the phone book.
I last trained under Sifu John Martinez and Sifu Rudy Barron for a
brief time...it's been about 3-4 years now, and I've been desperately
wanting to start back up. I'm striving to earn my black belt: as well
as support you and the council's mission here in San Jose...or where
ever I go. I would like to carry the torch down here as a Sifu.
Question! I stopped training due to my own family obligations;
father's death, school, work, etc.,just a few months after you had
promoted me to Brown belt. How may I consider myself as far as rank
at this point? Am I still a Brown Belt, or do I need to begin at
white or somehere inbetween? (of course I assume an extensive review
of what you taught me would be a variable in your answer). Either
way, anthing you can do or someone you can recommend to me is
appreciated...more than you know!
With all my respect, loyalty, and love to you and the Kajukenbo
Family. I'm eager to hear from you.

P.S. My condolences for Founder Arian Emperodo and Professor Joe
Halbuna. I know they were very dear to your heart. Also
congradulations to your well deserved and respected title as Grand
Master! Is it still O.K. if I just call you Max!? (Grimice)
