in addition to Kev's annual development tournament, the GB Junior boys from Vancouver are considering running an indoor tournament over the next few months as a development tournament for British Juniors in general. The squad learnt an invaluable amount from their experiences in Vancouver about top level international Ultimate, and are eager to pass that knowledge onto the next generations of Juniors so that for the next 20 years we can build on our 4th place (woop!) finish at Worlds!
It will most likely be a hat tournament where every player is randomly assigned to a team, each team having a GB Junior captain from either 2007 or 2008 - players of the ilk of Giacomo (GB Mixed, GB Junior captain 2007), Jacko (GB Open reserve, GB Junior captain 2007), Joshie (GB Junior captain 2008, Chevron player), Mike (GB Junior captain 2008, Leeds player) and so on. You will learn invaluable information from the best up and coming talent in the country about what they do that makes them the players they are, and how to emulate what they are doing now.
If coaches are interested in trucking a load of players to this event (most likely Manchester) then please get in touch. Whether or not I remain as GB Junior Coach in 2009, I still want to see the next generation of British Ultimate becoming the best ever.

It's getting to that time of the year again when we run a one day junior
development tournament up in Malpas, Cheshire. It will be held one weekend
in November, but what I want to do first is to gauge the amount of interest
we have, and whether we should be looking at running an under 17s (year 11
and younger) development tournament, possibly in addition to, rather than
instead of a general, junior development tournament (maybe under 17s on the
Saturday, U20s on the Sunday). For those that don't know, the purpose of the
tournament is to encourage beginners to play by having a limit on the number
of good juniors on each team, and having no prize for winning, only for
spirit and most improved teams.
Please email me back if you might be interested in entering a development
tournament, how many teams you might have, and whether you would prefer
U17s, U20s or both on consecutive days. The cost is always kept low (around
£30 per team) and accommodation may be possible for us to arrange.
