Hi All
Many thanks to those that turned up to trials here in the West Midlands last
Sunday, and also a mention to those of you who (for various reasons) couldn't
make it! Despite the absence of the current Under 17 Indoor Champions and some
other key players in the current Under 17 scene, the standard of play at the
trials was very high indeed - a testament to the ever increasing quality of the
game in this division. Not only that, but the commitment and attitude on display
was great, so many thanks all.
Everyone caught my eye at somepoint on the day, and I also had to bear in mind
what I knew of the ablities of those who couldn't make it. Selecting the team
gets harder and harder to do each year. Competition for places is high, and
those who made it this year and who will still be young enough to be considered
to play in 2009 are by no means guaranteed a place next year - there is every
chance that somebody who didn't make it this year will have improved and take
their spot.
But for this year, if they are all willing and able to play, many
congratulations to the following who have been selected:
Will Schnadhorst (Badgers),
Borat (Ben Burak) (Badgers)
Edd Hammond (Badgers)
Jarod (sorry, can't remember your last name!) (Badgers)
Matt Grimes (Badgers);
Jimmy (Jack Godwin) (Arctic),
Jonny Ursell (Arctic)
Chris Hole (Arctic)
Wolfie (James Wolverson) (Arctic)
Liam Cockerill (Arctic)
Jack Simmons (Arctic)
Joe Wynder (Crazy Apes)
Harmy (sorry, don't know your full name!) (Crazy Apes)
Ben (sorry, don't know yours either) (Ocelots)
Felix (or yours!) (Ocelots)
James Raper (NC Hammer)
Milan Tarascas (Strangers With Candy)
So good work all of you! The prevalence of Badgers and Arctic players reflects
the dominance of those two sides at Under 17 Indoors this year. And many thanks
also to those who didn't make it this time - keep working at your game and come
back stronger next year to Under 17s, or try your luck with the Under 20s if
this was your last year eligible at this age group. The margin between those who
have made the list and those who didn't quite is, in some cases, very very
small.
Kev will be making sure the email addresses of those selected are all on an
email group for the team this year, and we will communicate with you by email on
that. Make sure you check your email!
In the meantime, can each of you please email me back to say you've seen this,
know you are on the team, AND have checked that you are available and able to
play in Slovakia on the weekend of 5/6th July. The tournament is likely to be 3
or 4 days, so you might need to fly out as early as the Wednesday night.
If for any reason you can't, or won't, go to Slovakia, then I need to know ASAP
so I can invite somebody else.
Cheers
Vaughnie
