Bids for National Junior Indoors and U17s Indoors   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #333 of 480 |
We are now looking for bids to host the 2008 National Junior Indoor
Championships. There will need to be at least 2 indoor pitches, ideally 3,
as we would hope to get at least 24 junior teams there (20 teams attended in
2007 and 23 teams applied for the Nottingham 1 day junior tournament). It
needs to be a 2 day tournament, so accommodation (at least people's floors
with option of hostel) is important, and an appreciation of the limitations
placed on school teams in terms of accommodation. A central location is
preferable, but most teams will travel to almost anywhere in the country for
a 2 day junior tournament.

For guidance on running a tournament, please refer to the UKUA policy
http://www.ukultimate.com/files/How_to_run_a_UKUA_tour_5.pdf
Don't feel you have to provide everything, but the closer we get to these
high standards, the better.

Weekend clashes are inevitable, but some are preferable to others. For
reference, here is a list of events already scheduled. Hosting the
tournament outside of term time (including weekends at the start or end of
term or even half term will drastically reduce the amount of teams that can
enter). I really can't suggest what is the best weekend to clash with, but I
suspect a clash with Open indoors or a Uni tournament is very likely. Indoor
tournaments can be after Easter, but near the exam period would be
inadvisable.

Club indoor finals - Mar 8/9
Open Tour 0 - Mar 15/16
Easter - Mar 23rd
Easter holidays - Mar 21 - Apr 6

Open Tour 2 - Apr 26/27
Uni Outdoor Open - May 3/4
Open Tour 3 - May 10/11
Mixed Tour 1 - Jun 7/8
Mixed Tour 2 - Jun 28/29
Mixed Tour 3 - Jul 12/13

For National U17s Indoors, we had 13 teams competed this year and that could
well grow to 16 teams this time, so 2 halls over two days will be required.

If you would like to submit a bid, then please send an 'email of interest'
with a brief outline ASAP to me at kev_lowe@..., and then a full bid
before December 20th. All bids (including emails of interest) will be
published when received on the public area at
http://www.freeyabb.com/phpbb/index.php?mforum=juniors

The bids will then be considered that weekend and decisions announced before
Christmas.

Good luck, and let's ensure that these national tournaments continue to be
annual events as they have been since 2004.

Kevin.
