Hi All
Hopefully word has got around to many of you already as I've been keeping
coaches informed...
On Sunday 29th April, the weekend after this, there will be a one day practice
after which I will finally select and confirm the GB Under 17 Open squad that I
want to take to Southampton this summer. I am intending to take a squad of 15
players or thereabouts. If you think you have a realistic chance of making it
(i.e. you judge yourself to be in the top 25 or so players who were at Under 17
Indoors) and you want to convince me of that, then you need to get there to
prove your point and impress me. I've probably got a fairly good idea who you
are, but perhaps have never seen you play outdoors.
If you don't think you are likely to make the squad this year, but fancy a bit
of a practice anyway, you are welcome to come along for the experience. There
will be drills and games you will be able to get involved in, you can see the
standard of those who do make it this year and think how you need to improve
your game to come back next year with a better chance of getting in. However it
is short notice, no harm done if you can't do it this time. I hope to run a
couple of sessions in the autumn to gear us up for 2008!
The practice is going to be at Hill West Primary School, Clarence Road, Sutton
Coldfield, B74. There are no changing rooms there, and I'm not even sure we'll
have access to water tap or toilets. But there are good fields. So come ready to
play, bring plenty of water and suitable clothes (depending on the weather
forecast - we will not be stopping for rain!) and food for lunch. For
facilities, I hope to have access to my school, Arthur Terry, Kittoe Road,
Sutton Coldfield, B74 4RZ, which is just round the corner - there are toilets,
taps, changing rooms etc there, and there are shops up the road, but the more
self-sufficient we can be onsite at the Junior school the better. I'm hoping you
can sort directions with your friend Tom-tom or on AA or multimap websites. It's
not hard.
Please aim to arrive for around 09:30 to put boots on so we can start a warm all
together up 10:00 sharp. Those who played at Tour 0 know I do not take kindly to
people arriving late. There will be a range of drills and games, and a handful
of coaches there to keep an eye on who is impressing. Spaces are few and players
are many. We will break for lunch, and I suspect the day will be finished
between 4 and 5.
If I've forgotten anything, let me know.

Any problems, give me an email or a call - 07791 368786
If you are intending to come an email to let me know as much would be helpful to
get a gauge of numbers
Cheers
