Dear All
Just to let you know there's a feature on ultimate going into this
Saturday's Sportsround - the sporting version of BBC Newsround aimed at 8-14
year olds.
Date: Saturday 28 Jan
Time: 11.45am
Channel: BBC 2
Sam Green, u16's GB player and member of Ocelots, is doing the 'My Sport'
feature. The crew filmed him playing at school and interviewed him
describing ultimate and about his involvement. There'll also be a guide to
playing ultimate on the BBC Newsround website, so do take a look.
Quick warning about the cheesy bits. Their target audiences really 10 year
olds, so the producer felt she had to include all the usual clichés like the
apple pie, disc glued to camera doing a fly by of players failing to catch
the disc (I really hope they edit that bit out), naff bit to show spirit of
the game and lack of referees, etc. I'm sure Sam will come across well, but
not too sure about some of the others that had to stage stuff. I'm sure it
will be good, but hopefully there is no such thing as bad publicity (apart
from embarrassing performances on 'You Bet'). Lots of Lookfly shirts on
display which is good.
PS, If a big sporting story breaks over the weekend, it may be postponed
until next week, but will definitely air.
