Re: Pull Rules for Indoor Nationals

This is a debate we need. Personally, I don't like the new rules as they
currently stand, not for juniors anyway. I think we need to amend the 2
Metre rule at least. We started playing the rules from last week, and when
some of the players are only 1.4 metres, they got exploited by having the
disc sail way over their heads (but below 2 metres) and the D got there in
time to pin the thrower to the back wall.

Also, when beginners are lacking in confidence, it encourages the puller to
throw it as fast as possible in their general direction knowing they won't
attempt to catch it. Not exactly in keeping with the spirit of the game.
Open players that have played the new rules seem to like them. I think they
would be good for experienced teams, but I'm not convinced they are a step
forward for juniors teams.

Views please?

Kevin.

Kev I would agree that 2m is a bit too high for the younger/shorter players. As you say, this could be ammended, to 1.5m for example. When playing in our local...

I'm with Kev - the rules should be as similar to outdoor as possible as to not cause confusion for when players eventually transfer to outdoor. As a coach (and...

We have been using the new rules in our practices since just before Christmas. Initially there was a spate of trying to mac the pull back to the thrower, but...

Now we don’t want to create a game that is vastly different more a game for juniors that will allow confidents and talent to grow. So I would recommend...

My opinion would be, that pulls have to be able to be caught (catchabu,sp?), it would be unfair to hurl the disc at the back wall, not forgetting this can...
