Here are this weekend's quotes from Team USA coach and players:

--- *U.S. Head Coach April Heinrichs:

On Germany…

"They are dynamic on the attack and have the ability to the play very
quickly. They transition forward very early and have one of the best
combination play. Their attacking side of the game is something we
need to address."

On how to stop Germany's offensive attack…

"You stop it with good team shape and commitment to defend. We need
to think early because that mental commitment to play defense is
critical. We'll spend a little bit of time in our preparation on what
they do, but the rest of the time we have to concentrate on what we
do."

On preparing for the game…

"I think this is the type of game that the U.S. looks forward to
because we have so much respect for Germany. We are a team that stays
focused on the present. Today, our preparation was staying focused on
things we can control. I don't think there is anyone in our camp that
is looking past tomorrow."

--- *Cindy Parlow:

On if the U.S. is playing its best soccer right now…

"I think so. I think we are really gelling as a team right now. This
is the best defensive team we've ever had. To only let in one goal
against the teams we've played so far, I think is incredible."

On people considering the winner of this game will win it all…

"I think the media looks at it that way, but we don't look at it like
that. We know this is the semifinals, no doubt about it. If we want
to be world champions, we have to win the next two games. So, we are
just taking it one game at a time and our focus is on Germany."

On how good Germany is…

"They're awesome. They are very good and we have a tremendous amount
of respect for them. They are probably the best team at passing and
moving the ball. They are just great one and two touch players and
they are definitely going to cause problems for us."

--- *Shannon Boxx:

On what her role will be in the game…

"My job will be to hold in the midfield and make sure they can't
transition as quick as possible. Even in the last game I held a lot
more than I did in the WUSA because Norway's transition and attack
was right down the middle. So, I got used to that in that game. I
know I will have kind of the same role."

On if there is more or less pressure now that she's played in a
couple games…

"Obviously, the nerves are there because you're playing in a
semifinal and if you lose, you're out. So, the pressure definitely
mounts for that. I'm getting more comfortable playing with people
around me though. Personally, with the ball at my feet I was so much
more comfortable against Norway than Sweden. I think against Germany
I'll be a lot more comfortable."

--- *Kate Sobrero:

On Joy Fawcett…

"She always comes out and plays great. She's probably the most
consistent player on the team and always has a good game, and brings
100 percent. She reads the game so well. You just sit by her and
you're amazed by her."

--- *Mia Hamm:

On the semifinal match…

"Germany is one of the best teams in the world and probably playing
at its best right now. It will be a tremendous challenge for us. I
think the environment will feel like a final, with the stadium, the
crowd and two teams that have a great history."

On Germany's win over Russia…

"We didn't watch it, but I saw some of the highlights on TV. It
doesn't surprise me. Germany went out there to win and win
decisively, and they did just that. They are incredible team. They
get numbers forward, get people in the box and possess the ball so
well. They basically put on a clinic with regards to organization
around the ball.
