FIFA announced today at an Executive Committee meeting in Zurich,
Switzerland that the 4th FIFA Women's World Cup, which was scheduled
to be played in China from 23 September to 11 October, will be
transferred to another country due to the current health threat in
China. The U.S. is the front-runner, since they are the Cup holder
and have held World Cups previously. Australia is also interested.

U.S. Soccer announced Friday that Ireland has replaced South Korea as
the opponent for the U.S. Women's National Team on Saturday 14 June,
2003, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The change was necessitated by the re-
scheduling of the Asian Qualification Tournament for the 2003 Women's
World Cup, originally set for April in Bangkok, Thailand, now
scheduled to be contested from 10-22 June in Bangkok.
