MISL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES SET: Blast at Wave, Game 1 this Saturday
This has been playoff week in the Major Indoor Soccer League as the
week started off with the San Diego Sockers visiting the Kansas City
Comets on Wednesday, April 2, in the Western Conference Semi-Final
game. The Comets beat the Sockers 13-11 and earned the right to play
the Milwaukee Wave for the Western Conference title. On Thursday,
April 3, the Baltimore Blast traveled to Philadelphia to play the
KiXX at the First Union Spectrum for the Eastern Conference
Championship. The Blast came away with a tough, closely contested 8-6
decision and a berth in the MISL Championship series.
The Kansas City Comets battled the Milwaukee Wave on Sunday, April 6,
at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The final score was 20-18 in one
of the highest scoring games in this season's playoff games. The game
was highlighted by a brilliant performance by Milwaukee's Brian
Loftin and Kansas City's Dino Delevski. Each player had four goals
including two 3PG's for Delevski.
Delevski ended the regular MISL season having locked up his second
straight 2002-03 SPALDING Scoring Champion Award. A crowd of over
7,000 saw the Comets come back from a 11-2 deficit at the half. In
the second stanza, the Comets outscored the Wave by a 16-9 difference
but it was not enough to overcome the Wave first half onslaught and
the final score ended at 20-18. In the first half, Wave goalkeeper
Victor Nogueira faced seven shots on goal, but in the second half
Nogueira faced 18 shots as the Comets applied tremendous pressure and
scored seven goals (2-3 PG's-5-2 PG's).
On Saturday, April 12, the Baltimore Blast visit the Milwaukee Wave
