If you werent lucky enough to see the Boise debut of Sanctified last month, fear
not. It is
making its European tour as we speak and has had a great first showing. Paris
France was its
first international screening and it went over with rave reviews. Next week we
will be
traveling to Northern Africa for the Atlas Mountains Film Festival at the only
Ski Resort in
Northern Africa, Ifrane Morocco. If you can make it, sign up here on the
Jughandle Hut site.
If not, see you at the hut.

Love from gay Paree!

Is anyone interested in blazing a trail this weekend into the hut?
There are some finishing touches that need to be done and it looks
like I'll be skiing in with all the snow we've had. I'm guessing that
there's about 2-3 feet up at the hut now. Give me a call at 343-6014
and let me know if you want to go. I'm leaving Friday and skiing in
on Saturday, and out on Sunday.

Hi Ryan, thanks for the offer, you might want to check with Josh
(before he leaves for AZ), as the loggers have started work again, and
we may not have road access. Just a heads up.

Personally, I was thinking of heading in just after we get a foot or
two of snow, to start blazing the trail in and set the skin track.
Luckily, most of the things that still need to be done at the hut can
be done with supplies and tools up there...don't need to bring a whole
lot up.

Any other idears? Cheers!
Eric

many new cool shots that I've finally been able to upload. They are in
the folders "decking and silo construction," "stove, wood, and

I think they also show a little slice of the passion and dedication
and fun that is going into all of this!!  Enjoy -

Hi Everyone - just a note to say hello and let you know that the
pictures I posted were taken March 21, 2004. My friend Kristy and I
called the expedition the Jughandle Equinox and it was pretty. Sounds
like the hut is well on its way to being the next best thing to fresh
powder! Way to go Josh! Deb

Jenny, the description on the home page of the Jughandlehut Yahoo!
group tells a little bit about how the hut works (the picture is of
the hut/silo), but let me try and expand it for you. The hut and
permit are ownened and managed by Josh Rafkind, however he is managing
it as a cooperative in that other individuals are encouraged to buy
chunks of time at the hut and to volunteer to build and maintain the
facility. The specifics of nightly rental and buying a time share of
the hut can be obtained by calling (208) 859-3911. The group was
created to aid the general communication about the hut (mostly about
volunteer work so far) for any interested backcountry skiers. The hut
is located about 6 miles east of Lake Fork, Idaho on State land and
near the border of the Payette National Forest (on the west shoulder
of Jughandle Mountain). Use of the hut is not allowed without prior
arrangement with Josh Rafkind. The trail to Jughandle Hut is
approximately 2.5 miles (up) in the winter and detailed route and
location information will be available to hut users. If you have any
further questions about Jughandle Hut post a message to the group or
call Josh at 208.859.3911. Thanks for your interest,

Charlie Woodruff

Havn't had any for a while, actually. Thanks for asking, Charlie.

As far as the hut trip goes...

I would probably be able to make it if it were over my winter break Dec. 15-Jan.
17. The best
times for me are the weeks on either end (Dec. 15-21, and Jan 11-17).

What's best for everyone else?

Can't wait to be hucking snowballs again at yer purty little faces.

Hello everyone,
this weekend is a great opportunity to get up to the hut and volunteer
for some fun carpentry work building the loft/bunk beds, windows,
benches, outhouse etc.  If you like working with wood then get up
there and lend a hand.  The silo is up and now the fun finishing
touches need to be done.  Post a message to the group if you'd like to
help and want to carpool/get a ride.
Thanks

I can not make it up this weekend to help out but I can help in the future.  I am also available to take a few days off from work mid-week to assist.  I have designed and constructed five backcountry huts/yurts and set up operations and maintenance for "do it yourself" year around hut system.  Even if I can not physically help you give me a call anytime for advise.  Good luck.

Well, after a very successful weekend of sawing, pounding, dragging,
leveling, digging, and sweating the platform is built. Thanks to
Josh's swift saw work, we were able to accomplish quite a lot. The
decking is next and the silo will follow. Check out the great photos
