Hi,
It's Joseph from Neighbors for Neighbors. We've got some really big
news. We finally found, built, and are about to launch what we think
is an awesome and powerful community organizing website. Join us at
http://jp.neighborsforneighbors.org/. Join a group, and other of
interest or start a new one! Also check out the forums!
In two weeks I will be deleting this group so be sure to join in a
hurry, I've created a JP Joggers group for you, so all you need to do
is join the group. I'll also be sending you an invitation!
Happy shoveling,
Joseph
At some point, this group dwindled to just Leise Jones and I, and even we stopped running together about a year ago when our schedules didn't mesh, and then I got pregnant. I'm not sure if anyone else resurrected it between then and now. I'd love to jog, but I'm a week before my due date, so I'm no good for jogging or even committing to come to a meeting to promote it. I hope someone does, though.
Thanks for asking. Good luck - Melissa

Hi It's Joseph Porcelli from Neighbors for Neighbors,
On December 31st atMidnightI started The Nametag Project, a social experiment in which I committed to wear a nametag everyday, everywhere I went,
all the time, for the entire year of 2007. In addition, I am
encouraging others to join me and wear their own nametags.
The mission is to have everyone in the world think of, and treat
everyone else as a neighbor.
On Sunday, July 15, from11:00 a.m.to2:30 p.m, the Boston Police Department (my employer) other "Nametaggers", and Iwill be handing out 40,000 nametags to game-goers and anyone aroundFenwayPark. This will be the largest, most fun, and coolest, community
building initiative our city has ever undertaken and we need your
help to pull it off. To register to volunteer please fill out this form.
Here are five reasons why you should get involved:
We are going to make history
We are going to be on national TV
You will be apart of an international movement to get to people to
talk to and care about each other.
There will be a kick-ass party at Game On at 82 Lansdowne, starting at2:30 PM. If you help nametag you're invited!
You'll meet some of the coolest and positive minded people inBoston.
Here's some background on The Nametag Project:
My initial idea was to see what would happen if I I wore a nametag
for a year (back then it was called The Nametag for a year Social
Experiment.) It turned out that people loved the idea and started
joining me. I realized we were on to something big and
renamed it "The Nametag Project". The project has been featured in the Boston Globe
, Miami Herald on CBS, and recently on the Hallmark Channel's cable show New Mornings (scroll to the bottom to see the segment).
Now, half way through the year, the project has taken on a whole
new life. I am proud and humbled that my employer, the Boston Police Department and City of Boston along with the Boston Red Sox have joined
forces with me to bring the world the "National Night Out Nametag
Day event at Fenway Park" on Sunday, July 15th when the Boston Red
Sox play, and will beat, the Toronto Blue Jays. Again, to pull this
off we need 106 of you to help by volunteering to pass out nametags
from11:00 AMto2:30 PMon Sunday, July 15
on corners surounding Fenway Park. After we're done handing out nametags we will go to Game On (82 Lansdowne Street) for a volunteer party and watch the game. To registerplease fill out this form.
If you do choose to volunteer, you will be contacted by Allison
Rogers, the event manager, who will confirm your registration and
send you more information about the event, where to show up, what
to wear, etc. If you do not want to or cannot volunteer please
forward this email to everyone you know, post it to your blogs,
website and share the love.
I'd very much appreciate your partnership at this event and help with outreach as we still need about 40 more volunteer.
I'd be up for running. I usually run later/evening, but it would be fun to meet up with someone. When is your next run?

My husband and I typically jog around the pond on Monday evenings and
sometimes Wednesdays (we aren't morning people). We usually run around
6:30 pm and try to go faster than 10 minute miles (although we don't
always achieve that). We are happy to meet up with others.
I realize it isn't sensible, but has anyone ever encountered "trouble"
while jogging alone around the pond at night?
I’d definitely prefer weekday
mornings since I tend to get home late…The Tuesday 7am time worked for me
but the one time I showed up there was no one there, so I didn’t go back.
Hopefully we can make it work this time around!

running in the afternoon/evenings and it would be great to get some people to

If not, I still want to get a group together....

We'll be jogging on Tuesday. Come meet us at 7am at the Boathouse if
you're interested. Debra, we missed you on Friday. I'm sorry I didn't
sent a confirmation e-mail. Do you want to try for another day in
addition to Tuesday?
I hope to be able to make the Friday group. Definitely
a better day for me than Tuesdays.

HI All-
Leise and I figured it was best not to run tomorrow morning, on
account of the heat forecast.
Is anyone up for a run on Friday morning?
For those just joining the group, we usually meet Tuesdays 7am at the
boathouse.
Let me know if you can make Friday or next Tuesday, and we'll make
sure to keep an eye out for you.
Thanks- Melissa
I just joined the neighbor to neighbor
group and would love to join you all for a jog—unfortunately I’m reading
this message ˝ hour too late to meet you today. Do you meet every Tuesday at
7am?
Look forward to meeting you,

Hi All-
We're going to meet for our usual jog tomorrow morning at 7 at the
Boathouse. Our practice is to run 2 -3 loops (some run 2, some run 3)
that are about 1.5 miles long, each time swinging by the boathouse, so
you can drop off any time if the heat gets to you.
See you there!

Thanks for taking care of this running group, although I had hoped to
help run it, I'm finding myself too busy and often not able to run in
the mornings. So, are you cool with officially running it? If you want
help let me know, and i can try to force it into my schedule. thanks,

Melissa,
I'm interested, but can't do tomorrow; it is my
morning when I have both kids and husband is at an
early meeting. the logistics of that plus a run are
daunting!
However, I do have a few questions:
How far do you run? Is there a set day or time?

Hi Debra-
It would be great if you want to join us whenever it works for you. We
usually run on Tuesdays, but we're open to suggestion. We run
together once around the pond and once around the pond/river loop just
north of the pond, which is a bit longer than one loop around the
pond. Leise, and others if there are any, then usually run another
loop around the pond, but I peel off at that point. In short, you can
do as much or as little as you want, because we keep looping back near
the boathouse.
Leise and I are going to try to run this Thursday if you are
interested. I'll also send out a group e-mail for next Tuesday.
