Haven't posted a song up in a while but in a couple of weeks I'd like to start
singing this in an Angola or contemporary roda. While traveling to different
rodas I try to learn at least 1 new song.
I hope everyone has been practicing your music. Most of you with cordaos should
have already know at least 3 songs. (Some of you with higher belts should know
more, not just coros or one line) Not to mention, you should be practicing your
berimbau toques and getting used to singing and playing at the same time.
It takes time and we've all been there and the only way to get better is to
practice.
Esperta
Toca em meu corpo um berimbau
(coro)
Toca em meu corpo um berimbau
Carregado de emoção
Toca em meu corpo um berimbau
Ooo ia ia, lamentos do coração
Arrastado pelo toque
Que manejo em minhas mãos
Eu transmito em ladainha
As mais lindas poesias
Sentimento e emoção
(coro)
O dia vira noite
A noite vejo o luar
Eu vejo o azul do céu
As estrelas a brilhar
são rascunhos
são momentos
lágrimas de um pensamento
Como um pássaro a voar
(coro)
Orvalho caiu do céu
Molhadinho do sereno
O suor molha o meu corpo
O meu corpo moreno
Eu trago na cor da pele
e as marcas do sofrimento
(Coro)

TRANSLATION (english)
A berimbau is playing in my body
Loaded with emotion
A berimbau is playing in my body
moans of the heart
Dragged for the "toque" (the playing of the berimbau)
That I handle in my hands
I transmit in ladainha
The prettiest poetries
Feeling and emotion
The day turns night
In the night I see the moonlight
I see the blue of the sky
The stars shining
they are rascuhnos (not sure how to translate this)
they are moments
tears of a thought
As a bird to fly
Dew fell of the sky
Soaked of the "sereno"
The sweat wets my body
My brown body
I bring the color of the skin
and the marks of the suffering
