I know I've not played this year but last year Tanner outlined exactly what he was going to do as captain and to be fair he's done more than he said he would. He was only ever going to pick and captain the team at the indoor regionals and nationals, or not the nationals depending on if you got there. He never said he would run the club and he made it clear that he couldn't commit to outdoor practices, they were the terms that he took the captaincy under. I really don't understand how you can come out with a serious E-mail like that, talking about commitment and motivation, I've watched you train a few times this year and there's not much commitment or motivation when you play. There's nothing wrong with playing for fun but you can't have it both ways. You all know how Tanner plays frisbee and if your not going to put in as much effort as him, or take it as seriously as he does, course he's not going to bother organising outdoor practices for everyone to piss around at. You say that you've done things that aren't your duty but it's not like you've had to knit a new kit or anything. You've got in touch with other captains to organise tournament's that you want to play in. So what! Your the one who's so desperate to go to the tournament. Basically next year decide whether you want to be a serious sports club or a fun club and appoint the captain accordingly. I think Tanner wanted to improve the level of the team this year but I don't think most people really cared.

I'm sorry my e-mail was a bit too strong. Porbably writing in a big bold font wasn't the best choice. What I meant with my stupid rant was that although your efforts, the managing of the team this year has been really bad.I know that you're doing a really heavy and difficult degree that takes a lot of time off everything else you want to do, but you should have known it last year, and not have candidated as club captain as a consequence. What a club captain has to do isn't just turning up at sunday practices giving coaching advices (which I found really useful, and thank you a lot about them. I'm sure they've helped a lot of us to improve our ultimate). A club captain has the most important role in the team, which is the one of motivating people to play and to turn up to practices. And to do this you have to be there most of the time: on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays trainings. That's one of the many reasons why the team has been so poor this year. Why have the 4 beginners we had at the beginning of the year dropped out after two weeks, and why there doesnt seem to be anyone interested in playing outdoors??This is the whole commitee's fault. Since november, outdoor practices have been organized by JakeH and MattG (none of them actually have a position inside the team), with an average tournout of 6 people, which include Luke, Pete, Ben and Myself. If there is no one more closely involved in the team who pushes everyone to turn up to practices, why should be people motivated in going? As a club captain you should have told everyone you were going to leave, call an AGM, and then given up your place to someone else. You cant suddenly leave with just telling it to a few people, and leave your team without anyone at the head of it. And same thing should have been done by Paul about 4 months ago (giving up his place as a treasurer), when he realized he couldnt be arsed to play ultimate anymore! For what I am concerned, I know I havent done almost anything as a social secretary, but on the other hand I've done a lot of stuff that wasn't my duty to do as a social secretary. I've been getting in touch with other teams for tournaments, sending cheques, getting in touch for the outdoor regionals and so on... So I don't feel particularly guilty of not having sorted many socials out this year.Best of luck in your exam tomorrow, and have a great time in the states. Sorry again for the tone of my previous e-mail, but something needed to be said!Ad
