I received an invite a couple days ago to this NASCAR2006 yahoo group
that has wayyy too many members to keep up on what's going down.
Anyway, the big topic is Talladega Nights, and what it's going to do to
the sport as far as resurface some old stereotypes. I, for one, plan
on going to see it, but I won't be able to go on opening day due to
work. However, Angel is passing on this one lol, so anyone wants to go
for a matinee Saturday let me know!
I hope to start brewing a "fall type" beer and maybe another batch of
hard cider within the next two months. The English Ale seemed to go
over well, but we don't have a lot of cider drinkers apparently. Hope
to change the tastes ;)
Sent an email to, and received one from, the lady in charge of sales at
monkeyinadryer.com where I get my shirts made in MN. They had a
machine failure at the beginning of the month and it's put their
production behind. However, she has assured me she will be getting to
the shirts soon and is even going to produce a few extra for no charge
for the inconvenience. The logo on the front will be the same with
some changes on the back. The color of the shirt has changed too, or
you can still wear the black ones already issued if you don't like
them. Just wanted to give the team an update so they didn't think I
wasn't following through on my end :)
Sorry about the blankness of the home page here, I don't know how long
the color was just plain white. I had to reset the appearance colors.
Also, took in another type of motor sport last night, as I do every
year at the fair, the tractor pulls were awesome. A chevy dominated
the 4-wheel drive category, but unfortuneately, a Ford (I threw up in
my mouth just a little bit) won the modified category.
Some new beers in stock, we have Fuller's ESB out of England, and a
custom made six pack from Wine Works. Also, I resupplied the Tommy
Knocker Beer supply with the purchase of a variety pack. Note to
members. Trials, pint bottles, and customized six packs are not listed
in the database as the supply is limited and they go fast...especially
when Phil and I get together. So it's hit and miss...watch for the red
light. Stay safe.
Jerm
With the fair going on right now, things are a little slow at the
joint. I just got in some very hard to find collectable that are now
on display. Two of which are from Dale Sr.'s Lifetime Series which was
produced by Winner's Circle before the Museum Series was ever a
concept. Also, I have some legends cars now. I haven't figuured out
what I'm going to do with them, but they are sitting on the bar for
viewing...Tiny Lund, David Pearson, Fireball Roberts, Ralph
Earnhardt....
I've also got a new English brew coming whenever the heatwave in Oregon
ceases (that's where they're coming from), just a couple though. I
can't even remember the name of it. Anyway, business should pick up
once the fair is over. I don't know when we'll be throwing something
together again, but you can always do the check of the red light.
but under the "Links" section you'll find "Beers from afar" or
something like that. The list is vast and many, but they are beers
either I have had or members of the group have had. Not all are
recommended, but if we suffered through them, so should the rest of
you. I add to this portion almost monthly...
Your Woodchuck is restocked...
I have two small bottles of Lindemans Cherry and Raspberry...these are
new Belgian finds for the joint courtesy of The Rendezvous...is it
beer, or wine?????
Unfortunately, Dave wasn't scheduled to work the entire time we were
down. However, Brandy, Kat, and I think Jason and some other dude were
instrumental in getting me wasted at least one day I was there.
Shirts coming down as soon as I get them in. Sorry I missed you Dave
but we were in good hands, and the girls always know when the wife
comes with me, the ice cream lady is visiting. Also, finally got a
shirt after my third try. Can't wait to come back in February!!!
Trish remembered me literally, as soon as I walked in the door. After
serving us awesome deli sandwiches, she invited us down to
the "regular's" end of the bar so we could all chat...btw Michael,
Kevin actually remembered us as having really bad sun burns back in
February! lol...I also got to meet her sister and brother-in-law.
Dropped off the last medium shirt I had to her with a bar towel!
BTW...bar towel and pens to Rendezvous!
The wife says she's going to dump me off at the Vous let you get me
drunk and she's going to go shopping. We'll get in Monday night,
what's your schedule look like? Drop me an email!
I am surprised and strangely honored at what I saw at Cinema 10
today. Who drives the enourmous white Ford Excursion with the Joint
bumper sticker in the back window. It occurred to me that I've never
seen what any of you drive because I've always been downstairs while
you're here! Anyway, whoever, thanks a bunch, from the bottom of our
hearts, you nutty people :)
Managed to drive away with the Busch victory Friday night, and though
finishing out of the top 10 Saturday, catapulted two spots to grab 3rd
in the point standings!!!
Saturday night was a blast and I can't wait until the next one.
Marvin, Angie, Stacy and I are glad to wear you colors next year we
are going to have a good time.
Richard
Marvin, you've left your cooler here...I cleaned it for you.
Thanks to everyone who popped in last night. What a blast!!!! Also,
am aware that some members didn't receive the invite through the club
here that are signed up to receive individual emails. Richard and
Vaughn that I know of didn't receive the message. I don't know why
this happened, but glad you showed up Richard!!! Vaughn...we tried to
call...Richard told me you didn't get it either!!!
At the mass suggestion of the club members in attendance last
night...it looks like Jerm's Joint is sponsoring the upcoming Sunday
league team. Guys, I'm honored, and will get to work on the shirts
soon!
Not only DIDN'T a Cup regular win the Busch Race, but a dude that has
only made 7 starts in the Busch Series pulled it off, with no sponsor,
a single car team that builds their own engines! Awesome....
Also, I think if the race had continued, we'd have seen Jr. up front in
the retro #8...but it was a good points day!
There are a few new items on display at the Joint for this weekends
gig. Hope to see some of you there!
don't forget peeps, our little summer fling that Saturday, somewhere
around 8:00 PM start time. This may be one of the last times to hang
out with Michael for a while as he is pondering moving.
Rumor has it, one of our open wheel dweebs is looking for a grass skirt
and a cocoa-nut bra to wear to the event. So, raid your grandpa's
closet, find that tacky Hawaiian shirt, throw on a "go to hell" hat,
make some tropical drinks, and have a good time.
My old man has checked in, to become the 30th member of the Joint
online. He's a muscle car, 1/4 mile guy and is responsible for my love
of motorsports. Most of his time now is spent on two wheels. Welcome
aboard pop!
Special thanks goes out to Michael for rendering my retired big
screen, and completely rewiring the audio down at the Joint with a
graciously donated home theater system with tons of different medium.
It was hard work, but I think it will pay off. Also, a shout out goes
to Cindy L. for being the comic relief while Michael was knee deep in
the dust and cob webs.
To test out the new surround sound, come on over Sunday to see the
Father's Day Race from Michigan and check out the Budweiser #8 retro
car driven by Jr.
Christian was thinking about you the other night at Kil Kare. As a
promotional thing, they were giving away copies of, I think it's
called, "Modified Digest". Pretty cool! He wanted to get you one
since you couldn't go with us Friday. BTW, just checked Eldora's
website, and the make up is indeed, Sept. 6th.
I don't know if any of you really give a shit, but NASCAR.com has not
updated their manufacturer standings since Darlington. I don't know
why this is, but it has occurred in all three series. So, until this
problem is fixed, the bulletin board and the subsequent journal at the
joint will be missing this information.
As most of you know I will be moving out soon, so let get together
this Sat june 10 for one last time here my bar will be open and I fire
up the grill. if you want something specil bring it. michael
