It is time I address something other than racing, while still
keeping the focus on another event our fine establishment is known;
the art of consumption. Or, do you see this as an art? Maybe we
just drink to feel the effects, or MAYBE, there are those of us who
appreciate the flavor, ingredients, texture, and origin as well as
lavish in the warming afterglow of our prize? If you are the later,
YOU my friend, are a beer drinker!
Now don't misunderstand, however. Traditional lagers have
become an essential part of all of our American past-times. I am not
downing Budweiser! After all, they currently sponsor my favorite
NASCAR driver, and is best served out of the aluminum bottles on a
hot, humid, summer day, or just before race time. Miller, Coors,
etc, they are ALL an American blue collar staple. Just in that fact,
they should be applauded. Yet does being a down to earth, blue
collar working class member of society automatically exclude us in
the wide world of beer? Trust me my friends, it does not. Granted,
it might hit us in the wallets a tad more than some of our snobby
counterparts, but we owe it to ourselves to experience a passion that
goes beyond the domestic breweries we've become so familiar.
Beer and the consumption thereof are not just for the stinky,
sweaty jocks who reamined unshaved and watch football on Sundays with
their bellys hanging out of the bottom of their shirts. If done
correctly, you can not only get your drunk on, but you can appreciate
the worldy choices in the art of brew. There is nothing hindered by
taking the time to enjoy the taste of a good beer while appreciating
its effects.
The art of craft brewing, and the birth of microbreweries all
over the United States is nothing short of paradise either. In
these, you'll find some of the greatest hidden treasures in the beer
world. It is without a doubt that you could sample a microbrew, or
craft beer from around this great country every day of the year, and
never even phathom the thought of our traditional domestics.
Anyone who's been to Jerm's Joint knows we have an appreciation
for ALL types of beers, lagers, stouts, porters, IPA's, and meads.
Early settlers brought their homegrown art of brewing to the New
World and opened the door centuries later for the ability of us to
appreciate their products imported from the homelands. The English,
Irish, Belgians, and Germans all manufacture beers nothing short of
magical, and should be sampled by each and every one of you that
visits our establishment, this site, or anywhere that serves beers
other than the watered down domestics we've seemingly come to know as
status quo.
Yes, they will cost you more, no, you wont' be able to drink as
many as you would your usual domestic brews, nor will you drink them
as frequently. However, there is a world of smoothness, texture,
taste, and higher alcohol by volume out there that we all owe to
ourselves as beer drinkers to try. Now pop the cap on one already!
