Jim has touched on something I have had the same feelings about for a
while. Seemingly, drivers, crews, team owners, and even fans aren't
apparently aware of the significance our National Anthem has to our
stature as a country. It is truly disheartening to see when the camera
pans over the pre-race ceremony how not only are there some who do not
place their hands over their hearts, but don't even bother to remove
their hats! Adults, as well as children are guilty of this.

Folks, it is up to us to ensure that our future generations comprehend
the importance of the singing of our National Anthem. Granted, there
are certain people I'd rather hear sing than most, but nonetheless,
your hat is removed, and your right hand placed over your heart. It's
two painless minutes to show you appreciate the country in which you
live, and the sacrifices made for it.
