The US American Lindsay Davenport is the first player to rush into the semi-finals at the Sanex Championships. On Thursday, the No. 2 ranked player defeated Jelena Dokic from Yugoslavia with 6:4, 6:2 and thereby kept her chances to take the very top of the world ranking by the end of the World Championships.



In the first set of the first quarter-final in the Olympic hall in Munich, Lindsay Davenport was already 5:1 up; then Jelena Dokic, ranked No. 8, was able to close the gap. However in the end it wasn't sufficient, because superior Lindsay Davenport with her secure and powerful serve took the set with 6:4. In the second set, the 25-year-old Davenport was even better, with 6:2 didn't give her opponent any chance to win and thereby emphasized her ambitions for the title at the Sanex Championships.
