Fri Dec 8 00:58:54 2000

Throwing with the
body is something that will take time to develop as it
is a fairly complex movement. When you come to throw
a javelin it would be likely that you have a
similar action to throwing a baseball/football/etc... as
this is what you know how to do and is what you've
done for many years. Unlike throwing with just your
arm, throwing with your body is something not normally
performed in everyday life and therefore you have to train
your body to do these movements so that they are done
without you thinking...like what you would do now with a
ball.

So how do you throw with your body
better?
The best thing I could suggest is to not
think about throwing the javelin when you are coming in
to throw. Just focus on keeping your throwing arm
back and getting hard into the block.
You don't
always need to throw for distance. Try focusing on at
least one aspect of your technique for every
throw.
Study as many videos as you can get of elite throwers
to get some ideas on the right technique.
Video
yourself and compare what you are doing to the elite
throwers.
Do LOTS of drills!!

hope this helps
