BELOIT, Wis. - For the second game in a row, the Peoria Chiefs fell behind
early, but this time their rally was cut short as the Beloit Snappers hung
on for a 4-2 Midwest League victory Sunday.
The Snappers pulled ahead for good in the bottom of the fourth inning when
Alex Maestri hit Joe Benson and Chris Parmelee flew out to center. When
Chiefs center fielder Matt Camp attempted to double Benson off first base,
his throw sailed into the Chiefs dugout, advancing Benson all the way to
third.
Benson scored on a fielding error by Dylan Johnston. Danny Santiesteban,
who reached on Johnston's first error, came around to score on a throwing
error by Johnston.
In the eighth, the Chiefs rallied for one run on a sacrifice fly by Camp,
but Johnston was thrown out at third when he overran the base on Ryne
Malone's ensuing sacrifice fly.
