The Rochester Red Wings were off on Monday, but they suffered a big loss.

Right fielder Jason Kubel was recalled to the Minnesota Twins after left
fielder Shannon Stewart was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left
foot injury. He is eligible to come off the DL on June 4.

Kubel, the 2004 International League Rookie of the Year and batting champ,
is considered the Twins' No. 1 hitting prospect.

He started the year with Minnesota but was demoted after hitting .188 in
seven games.

He missed the 2005 season recovering from major knee surgery.

Kubel was hitting .283 with 4 home runs and 22 RBI in 30 games for the
first-place Red Wings, who open a four-game series in Columbus tonight.
