I wanted to express my agreement with Wayne. The 24 hours of Sebring was a very challenging, but truly fantastic experience. I think many in the club would enjoy doing the 12 or 24 hour rides--not to mention the great weather and the beautiful orange groves. I already have training plans for a running event in January 2010, so I don't know if I will be recovered enough to do the ride next year. If I can't ride, I really hope I can make it down to help with SAG support. It's just a great event to be around.
Speaking of SAG support, Sarah Gallapoo is my new hero. I don't know how she did it. Not only did she drive all over back roads in central Florida to keep us fed and hydrated, but she made additional trips into town and back to the hotel to get the extra things that we didn't anticipate
needing. She stuck with us until the very end and was encouraging and supportive the entire time. All of the awesome pictures she took are just icing on the cake.
Also, I can't write enough about Wayne and Fitz. It is always a plus to have good company to ride with, and I had the best. I have learned so much about being a better cyclist from the two of them. They were always willing to do more than their fair share of the work, and kept me mindful of the things I needed to do to go the distance. Without them, this would have undoubtedly been a much shorter and much less enjoyable ride.
Hope to see some of you down there next year!!
Take care, Liz

I just wanted to let you know the Jackson County Bike Club was well represented
at the RAAM qualifier in Sebring Florida.
I want to give my congrats to Liz Eaken for smashing her age class
drafting record by 78 miles.
Fitz also came close to setting his age class drafting record. He missed
the record by 17 miles.
Me I was aproximately 100 miles from my age group drafting record. I
promise I will represent better next year.
Please help me congratulate Liz and Brian on amazing rides.
We are looking for more riders for 12 or 24 hours and especially more SAG
help for next year.
Most crews had 2 or 3 SAG people per rider. We had 3 riders for 1 SAG
person. I want to
give my wife all the
thanks for making this ride possible.
It takes a stong person to put up with 3 tired roade riders for 24 hours.
I'm sure she was as tired and wore out as us, but she never complained. Now
I remember why I married her. Thanks Sarah.
One of the best rides I have ever done. Wayne
