IWA Mid-South Upcoming Schedule of Events
Friday night, January 2, 2009
The Bellevue Plaza
325 Bellevue Avenue
Bellevue, IL
8 pm belltime
Tickets: $15 ringside & $10 bleachers
IWA Mid-South World Heavyweight Title
Dingo vs. Ian Rotten
Dingo
has been on an impressive roll since winning the IWA Mid-South title in
the beginning of the summer. Roderick has travel issues that will keep
him off of this show but he will be in Joliet the next night. Trevor
Murdock is going to be in Japan and unable to attend. Therefore, the
title match has been changed to Dingo defending against Ian Rotten.
Even if Dingo survives, will he be in any condition to fend off the
challenge of Jason Hades the next night?
IWA Mid-South World Light Heavyweight Title Match
Jason Hades vs. Ryan Phoenix
Ryan
Phoenix issued this challenge at the first show in Bellevue a couple of
weeks ago. He knows that he has never won a match in IWA but he is the
hometown boy trying to live out a dream. Will the hometown fans be able
to cheer on Phoenix to a stunning upset? Will Hades be focused enough
on the challenge of a huge underdog with the career defining title vs.
title match looming the next night?
Tables, Ladders & Chairs Grudge Match
Grits N Gravy (Elgin & Sami) vs. Michigan Militia (Brooks & Skyline) vs. Sex
Drugs & Wrestling (Chambers & Ash)
Elgin
teamed with Chambers at the first Bellevue show to take on the Militia.
Chambers turned on Elgin disgusted that he was using Sami Callihan as a
tag partner. That somehow was a betrayal to his Canadian roots.
Chambers promised that Elgin would never be able to get another
Canadian to team with him...including his former tag partner and man he
came to IWA with, Ash. It allowed the Militia to get a victory over
Elgin. Elgin and Chambers started an impromptu match against each other
when the Militia got involved again. They beat down both Elgin and
Chambers leading to the need for a 3 way. In order to make it a little
more interesting...tables, ladders and chairs will be allowed. Will the
Canadians side with the Militia or Grits N Gravy to make it 4 on 2
until the Militia is taken care of or will the past friendship of Elgin
and Ash mean nothing and every team fend for themselves? Maybe Sex
Drugs & Wrestling will work with the Militia to prove a point to
Elgin. The only thing known for sure is that chaos will ensue!
DAVID vs. GOLIATH
Ricochet vs. The Necro Butcher
Ricochet
is one of the top high flyers in IWA. However, he probably one weighs
in at about 175 pounds. Necro is going to have at least a 100 pound
weight advantage. Can Ricochet use his quickness and aerial ability to
stay away from the madman known for destroying his opponents? Will
Necro use his size and strength to ground Ricochet and beat him to a
pulp? This is the ultimate styles clash matchup in IWA and it could
very well be the last time that Ricochet ever steps into a ring if he
can't stay away from the Necro Butcher.
Light Heavyweight Contender's Match
Chuck Taylor vs. The Yellow Dog w/ Classie Lassie
While
the winner of this match won't be guaranteed a light heavyweight title
shot, it would definitely go a long way in moving up the ladder and
getting closer to a title shot. Chuck Taylor is a former IWA Mid-South
World Heavyweight Champion (the longest reigning one in IWA history),
IWA Mid-South World Light Heavyweight Champion and IWA Mid-South
Women's Champion. He's been out with an injury since taking a nasty
spill at the 2008 TPI vs. Cassandro and is ready to once again stake
his claim to be one of the top performers in IWA. The Yellow Dog has
become an instant fan favorite with his zany performances. If the fans
don't like the zaniness, the men definitely like the beauty of Classie
Lassie being ringside with him. This match is sure to entertain, if not
athletically then definitely comically.
New Matches
2 Out of 3 Falls
Egotistico Fantastico vs. Prince Mustafa Ali
Prince
Mustafa Ali demanded to be in the TPI after losing a match against
Egotistico Fantastico. Ali claimed it was only racism that kept him out
of the prestigious tournament. Ian agreed to let him into the TPI but
made his first round matchup a rematch against Ego. Ego won that match
too and went one to be one of the MVPs of the tournament. Ali has
failed a couple of times at wresting the light heavyweight title from
Hades and in order to get another crack at the title he needs to prove
himself by taking out his old nemesis Ego. Can Ali defeat Ego not only
once but do it twice in the same night to get the victory? Will Ali use
the shoe bomb and the weapons of mass destruction or will Ego keep him
at bay with Taco Pizza? Either way, the crowd is sure to be the winner
in this one as two of the top young guys in IWA tear into each other to
start the new year on a roll!
Battle of TNA Knockouts
Mickie Knuckles vs. Payton Banks a.k.a. Rain
Mickie
and Rain have a long history in IWA Mid-South. They had a series of
great matches back in 2005 that saw Mickie on the winning side more
times than not. In 2004, Rain was able control the feud. It has been a
couple of years since these two have tangled but there is still no love
lost between them. Will Mickie run roughshot over Rain or will Rain use
her beauty and her brains to distract the referee and get a victory
over the Redneck Woman? Mickie will be at a disadvantage due to her
recovering broken leg but she won't use that as an excuse. Be in
Bellevue to see who the better TNA Knockout is and perhaps the winner
will be one step closer to returning to TNA?

IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Title vs. Light Heavyweight Title
Dingo vs. Jason Hades
These
two men have dominated IWA Mid-South in 2008. Dingo has taken on all
challengers for his heavyweight title and defeated them all. He has
finally squashed the dreams of Drake Younger and beaten his biggest foe
for the final time. Drake can't challenge for the title again as long
as Dingo remains champion. Who is next in line to challenge Dingo? How
about the last man to defeat him in IWA? Jason Hades has been on an
equally impressive roll in IWA and even has a victory over Dingo before
Dingo won the title. Hades issued the challenge at the end of the
Candido Cup and Dingo promised to walk out with both titles in a
"cakewalk." Who will be the last man standing with all the IWA titles
when this one ends?
Grudge Match
Da Soul Touchaz (Trauma & Marshe) vs. The Soul Shooters
Da
Soul Touchaz (Marshe Rockett & Acid Jazz) won the 2008 Candido Cup
but in the process, Jazz broke his leg and dislocated his ankle. If
that wasn't bad enough, then the Soul Shooters (Dru & Q Skillz) ran
in and attacked the injured Jazz and Marshe before Trauma could run
them off. This time the Soul Touchaz know that the Soul Shooters are
coming. Which team will prove to have all the Soul in the IWA?
Battle of the Butchers
Necro Butcher vs. Bill the Butcher
Bill
the Butcher made quite the impression on IWA fans at the tryout show
and they immediately started thinking about how great a match vs. Necro
would be. Necro is always looking for a fight and is more than ready to
test the new kid on the block to see if he is all hype or the real
deal. Join us in Joliet to find out if Bill is ready to make the giant
leap and can stand toe to toe with the Necro Butcher!
Also on the card:
Strong Style Showdown
Roderick Strong vs. Michael Elgin
Roderick
won the Revolution Strong Style Tournament. Michael Elgin is a former
IWA Strong Style Champion. These two are probably hands down the
hardest choppers in IWA right now. Who will be able to come out on top
in this showdown between two of the toughest in the independents? Can
the Messiah of the Backbreaker get the bigger Elgin up for one of his
backbreakers? Can Elgin ground and pound the RSST champion? One thing
is definite...they are going to hit each other so hard that even the
fans in attendance will be able to feel it!
Battle For Positioning as Contender for IWA Title
Jimmy Jacobs vs. "New Horror" Sami Callihan
Sami
has been on an undeniable roll in IWA. He made it to the finals of TPI,
RSST and Double Death. While making it to the finals was quite an
accomplishment for Sami, he is pissed that he failed to win all three
times. He has made Ian Rotten submit and beat Mickie Knuckles in her
return from a broken leg. Now he has his sights set on Jimmy Jacobs.
Jimmy is the 2nd longest reigning IWA heavyweight champion in history.
He has come up short in his quest to get that title back against Chuck
Taylor and Dingo. The quickest way to get another shot is to beat the
man who made it to 3 tournament finals in IWA in a calendar year. Can
Sami continue on his roll and perhaps become a number one contender to
the heavyweight title or will Jimmy Jacobs use him as a stepping stone
to get back to where he wants to be?
