With the 2008 version of the Ted Petty Invitational coming up in less
than a week, I thought I would send everyone a flashback to what many
people consider the greatest IWA show ever out of our 515+ shows that
we have run in our history.
The 2004 TPI was loaded from top to bottom in the 24 man tournament
with the absolute biggest names on the independent scene at that time.
You have current day WWE superstars in CM Punk and Evan Bourne. You
have current day TNA stars in Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Alex Shelley,
Chris Sabin and Petey Williams. You have ROH stars Jimmy Jacobs,
Delirious, Nigel McGuiness, Chris Hero, Austin Aires, Claudio
Castagnoli, Roderick Strong and American Dragon.
Over 10 hours of wrestling action on 6 DVD discs.
If the 2008 TPI can just be half as good as the 2004 TPI, it will be a
fantastic weekend of wrestling action in Joliet, IL on September 26th
and 27th.
If you want to look into the 2004 TPI further, you can go to the
following link and see the lineup and even order the DVD. Remember it
is 6 discs with over 10 hours of unbelievable action.

Here is the flashback to the 2006 Ted Petty Invitational.
The tournament itself was once again loaded with a stellar lineup that
included the eventual winner "Senshi" Low Ki along with Davey
Richards, Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli, Colt Cabana, Mike
Quackenbush, El Generico, Delirious, Roderick Strong and much more.
There were also several shocking surprises at the 2006 TPI just like
the surprise appearance of Chris Candido at the 2004 TPI.
It saw the unbelievable return of Jimmy Jacobs to IWA 9 months after
being fired. You could feel the tension in the building when Jimmy
Jacobs and Jim Fannin stood in the ring together for the first time in
9 months since the infamous cage match with the barbed wire baseball
bat shot heard round the world.
The 2006 TPI also featured the long awaited surprise return of The
Necro Butcher to the IWA.
In addition to the TPI tournament, you had Chuck Taylor winning the
IWA Mid-South World Heavyweight Title in one of the biggest surprises
in IWA history and he then went on to hold the belt for a full year
until finally losing it at the 2007 TPI. There was the Loser Leaves
IWA match between Josh Abercrombie and Tyler Black that led to the
aforementioned return of Jimmy Jacobs.
This tournament had it all and will be remembered for a long time by
those that were there live.
