IWA Mid-South presented April Blood Showers 2007: The Final Chapter
yesterday in Midlothian, Illinois. Here are your results from that
event:
Thanks to everyone who helped with results
1). Jack Thriller def. Hype Shalwin.
2). Dysfunction def. Troy Walters with a Rubix Cube (Electric Chair
driver) to retain the NWA Wisconsin title.
3). Josh Abercrombie def. Brandon Thomaselli. The match was non-title
after Thomaselli didn't make weight. Again, Abercrombie defeated Brandon
in a non-title match. Abercrombie won after punching Thomaselli with
Referee Travis Young's belt and then he took the belt and wrapped it
around Brandon's throat and stood on his back and yanked up on the belt
choking the life out of Brandon until he tapped out (Brandon had tried
to do the same to him earlier in the match). This ended up being a
Lumberjack Strap match instead of an Indian Strap Match because earlier
in the show, Brandon Thomaselli came to the ring and declared that the
Indian Strap match was signed when he was the challenger so it was no
longer valid since he was the champ now. He then when on to say that
Josh Abercrombie was scared of him and wanted to run. Ian Rotten told
him that it was fine not to do the Indian Strap match and since Josh was
scared, he would make it a lumberjack match instead. Brandon was more
than happy with that stipulation. Ian then said "oh by the way, the
lumberjacks will have straps" which Brandon didn't like at all.
4). OMG def. Jason Strife with a top rope twisting Pedigree.
5). The Unreals (Ash & Michael Elgin) defeated The Naptown Dragons
(Vortekz & Die Hard Dustin Lee).
6). Scott Lost def. Billy Roc. Lost stated before the match that Bosh
was at home resting his knee for the Candido Cup. This promo was
amazing, mostly due to its incredible awkwardness. "Bosh wanted me to
let you know why he wasn't here...so consider yourself...known."
7). Iron Saints def. North Star Express in the double dog collar match
where all 4 men were bleeding due to this violent matchup. The Saints
got the win after Joey Eastman entered the ring and started chopping
both Saints while they were being held by the NSE. The Saints then
yanked the chains causing the NSE to sandwich Joey and then they hit the
double team Texas cloverleaf/DDT for the pinfall.
8). Tank def. Ian Rotten via countout with a brutal Samoan Drop on the
floor through a table. Ian was unable to get back into the ring by the
20 count and Tank just made it back in in time. This was a brutal
encounter that included several hellacious forearms, headbutts and Ian
even almost knocked out Tank with a vicious punch to the face on the
floor.
9). Chuck Taylor beat Joey Ryan to retain the IWA Mid-South heavyweight
title in a hilarious and very even match. Taylor won with the Omega
Driver. Seriously, buy this DVD...and we're not even done!
Jim Fannin came to ringside after the match and told Chuck Taylor that
he has not forgotten about him not thanking the BMFers for giving him
the title just because he spent all his focus on the destruction of
Jimmy Jacobs. With Jacobs laid up in bed at home and out of action, he
is now ready to return his focus on Chuck Taylor after Taylor breaks
Jimmy Jacobs title reign record in 3 more months. Fannin promised to
send someone after Taylor to win the title and then have that person
hold the title longer than Fannin's longest reigning champion so that 3
birds could be killed at one time (the revenge on Chuck, ending Jimmy
Jacobs' record and becoming Fannin's longest reigning champion).
Tyler Black vs. Joey Mercury announced for Joliet
Chuck vs. Necro announced for Candido Cup Night 2
10). Drake Younger beat CJ Otis to retain the IWA Death Match Title in
a a must-see Barb Wire Mayhem match. The match included interference
from Joey Eastman's core, as well as two ref knockouts, but after all
the barbed wire madness, Drake Younger pulled out the win. The victory
came as Joey Eastman, Elgin, Ash, Corbin & Cruz came out to help CJ and
started beating on Drake. Ian ran to the ring with a chair causing all
of Joey Eastman World Wide (JEWW) to leave. Ian then entered the ring
with the chair (the barbed wire had but snapped during the match) as CJ
had Drake in a go behind. Drake moved out of the way and the chairshot
hit CJ. Drake then hit a vicious vertebreaker for the pin. Drake then
confronted Ian yelling "was that chairshot meant for me?" but Ian just
turned and walked away. Drake and CJ shook hands afterwards bringing an
end to their feud and then CJ left with Joey Eastman evidently as the
newest member of JEWW.

Speaking of the Candido Cup, yesterday was the 2 year anniversary of the
passing of Chris. Nick Maniwa, Patti and Jim Fannin weighed in on the
message board with their thoughts on Chris Candido:
From Nick Maniwa:
Please don't forget that today, April 28 is the
the two year anniversary of Chris Candido's death.
Don't let him slip by, forgotten.
I met Chris at TPI 04 and he was such an incredible guy. I'm kicking
myself because my computer crashed and I lost the pic of us and thought,
ah well, I'll get another one. He was such an incredible person. I
really truly believe that all of wrestling would be better if he was
still around. He would've tore the house down at One Night Stand and got
a contract, I know that for sure. I didn't know him as well as some
people, I don't even think he knew my name but it doesn't matter. He
didn't need to. I'll never forget him putting the kibosh on a guy (more
specifically myself) sleeping with him and saying that Adrianne could,
haha. I'll never forget him eating my listerine strips then going up to
everyone saying, These taste like shit, have one. I'll never forget him
getting out in the rain when the ring truck broke down. He didn't have
to, he's Chris Candido and I'm Charlie Murphy... Nick Maniwa but he got
out with everyone just cos. I literally had a stomach ache from laughing
so much after the Revolution Strong Style 8 man tag. I never got tired
of seeing a sunset flip turn into 5 minutes of seeing his ass. Such an
incredible man and I miss him all the time. I added some videos in this
bulletin, so everyone can check out, just how great Candido is.
RIP Chris, you are missed but never forgotten.

Below is the poem that was on the funeral card they
handed out at his wake. I think it was fitting.
"I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one,
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is
done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the
ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny
days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before
the sun.
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

From Patti:
Thank you to Nick Maniwa for the post. Everyone here at IWA still misses
Chris tremendously. Not only was he a talented wrestler, but he was an
all around wonderful person. He was a friend , teacher, and so much more
to the younger guys coming up in the business. He brought so much with
him as far as knowledge , that when it's gone you say to yourself , What
now??
Chris had been a part of our family for so long and when he was gone it
just didn't seem real.
I was the one who had to break the news to Ian. He had just landed in
Germany for a 2 week stay. I literally caught him as he was stepping off
the plane. It was one of the worst things that has ever happened in my
life. We discussed Ian coming home, even tho we could have used the
money he was making there. I told him to get back on the plane if thats
what he wanted to do. Ian said Chris would have said , "The show must go
on!" and he decided to stay. I agree with him whole-heartedly. Chris
would have been beyond peeved if Ian had come home and disappointed the
people there who wanted to see him.
We found out almost 2 weeks to the day that I was expecting. The
beginning of Ian's trip began with horrible news of the death of a very
dear friend and the happy news of a new life.
When Ian got back home , we were discussing names for the baby. Both of
us wanted to honor and remember Chris in some way. Thus, we now have
James Christopher!! I know people will think I'm nuts but I can be in
the car with James Christopher (yes, we call him by the entire name!)
and you can be sure that "Back In Black" will come on the radio. It
happens pretty much everytime I have him with me. Do I believe that
Chris is watching out for this baby? You bet I do!!! James Christopher
has his own guardian angel up in heaven watching out for him.
Ian and myself (and everyone else at IWA) are still as heartbroken today
as we were 2 years ago. I don't think a day goes by that Chris isn't in
our thoughts , for he is always in our hearts. I will definitely make
sure James Christopher knows when he is old enough to understand what a
great guy Chris was. I'm so glad he was working with us again at the
end. We were so happy for him when he got the call to TNA. Chris was
back on top of the world. Looking fit and tan!!! You know how he loved
his tan!!
Not only did we lose a wonderful friend , the whole world lost an
amazing person. But thankfully if nothing else, we can share our stories
and memories. We have the dvds to be able to watch Chris in action. And
remember the good times with Chris, when the time comes that we feel
like we can't go on without him.
I know I have rambled on , but this has been one of the hardest things I
have ever written. Its hard to type thru tears. Thanks to all of you who
supported Chris when he came back to IWA after the hard times and those
of you who cheered him in the best of times.
WE LOVE AND MISS YOU CHRIS!!
REST IN PEACE AND KNOW THAT WE ARE ALL STILL THINKING OF YOU!!
Thanks for all you did! Your loving family at
IWA.
and finally, the thoughts of Jim Fannin:
I could say a lot of things about Chris and tell a lot of great stories
about the road trips to the shows and everything else.
I don't feel like making a long winded post mainly because I don't want
to get teared up again.
Everyone at the show saw how tore up Ian got yesterday when he talked
about Chris.
Well we got just as teared up talking about Chris at the end of our 5
1/2 hour shoot interview that we filmed on the way back from Texas last
weekend. 2 years later and still we can't get through talking about our
love for Chris without getting choked up and I'm already starting to
again as I type this.
That should be all I need to say about Chris. I am notorious for how I
don't like people and how anti-social that I am. Well I liked Chris
Candido so much that it pains me to take about his passing 2 years
later. That says how great of a human being that he was and how deeply
missed he is to this day.
As Ian said yesterday at the show, if you think the TPIs are great, wait
till you get a load of the Candido Cup. No disrespect to Teddy but I
never knew him. Most of the guys that come in to work the TPIs never
knew him. We all knew Chris very well and that will make this so
important to us to give a show worthy of his name. A lot of the guys
competing in this thing knew and loved Chris and will be giving it their
all to make sure that he is looking down upon that show with great pride
knowing that he are doing this to honor him.
My only hope is that we can live up to it and that the fans are
deafening with their chants of "Candido" for both nights.
Damn it Chris, now I have to get some kleenex.
Good Day.
