IWA Mid-South News for 07.02.05
--by Stacy McMackin, Moderator--
IWA Mid-South Wrestling, in association with NWA Midwest, returned to the
National Guard Armory in Salem, IN on Friday night, 7/1, for "Catch A Rising
Star." Here's what went down...
1. MARK WOLF def. DARIN CORBIN in the opening contest with the Nevermind DDT.
2. "Spyder" NATE WEBB def. "The Human Rulebook" CHANDLER McCLURE with a
schoolboy rollup. Late in the match, Webb suffered an ankle injury which leaves
him questionable for Saturday's show.
3. MICKIE KNUCKLES def. RAIN following the Shining Kawada Kick on the floor in a
Falls Count Anywhere match, to retain the IWA Women's Title. The match went all
over the Armory, into the parking lot, and into the women's bathroom, where
Mickie shoved Rain's head into a toilet!
4. BJ WHITMER def. BRAD BRADLEY with his feet on the ropes for leverage and help
from JIM FANNIN.
5. JC BAILEY def. TJ DALTON via disqualification. Bailey attempted to use a
chain on Dalton, but Dalton was able to score a pinfall with a rollup.
Post-match, Fannin and Bailey convinced referee TOMMY THOMPSON that Dalton had
used the chain during the match, and the decision was reversed in favor of
Bailey.
6. JOSH ABERCROMBIE def. DELIRIOUS via countout to retain the IWA Light
Heavyweight Title. Abercrombie hit the Taliban Backpack lungblower on the ring
apron, and beat Delirious back into the ring to win the match.
7. JIMMY JACOBS wrestled IAN ROTTEN to a no contest in a match with two
referees. TOMMY THOMPSON was the referee inside the ring, while Rotten selected
MARK WOLF as his second referee on the floor. To counter Wolf's presence, Jacobs
had JIM FANNIN in his corner for the match. Late in the bout, Thompson was taken
out of commission leaving Wolf to officiate the bout alone. After Ian hit the
Rotten Rush on Jacobs, Wolf counted to two, and then attacked Ian. JC BAILEY and
BJ WHITMER hit the ring and joined Fannin and Wolf in attacking Rotten. They
duct taped Ian's arm to the ring post, and Wolf chairshotted it. Fannin got on
the mic and explained that plans of JOHNNY CANDIDO being a part of his team for
War Games was a ruse, and Wolf was on his side all along, as Candido told him he
was not interested in fighting Ian & Axl. Wolf will thus compete on Fannin's
team on Saturday in Valparaiso.
8. CM PUNK def. MATT SYDAL with a top rope bodyslam in the main event of the
evening.
The event was filmed by Smart Mark Video for home video release, with commentary
by Dave Prazak, CM Punk, and Nate Webb.
Tonight, Saturday, 7/2, we're back at the National Guard Armory (1502 Linwood
Avenue) in Valparaiso, IN for "No Blood, No Guts, No Glory 2005." Bell time is
7:30pm (Valpo is on Central time). All tickets are $20, and will be available at
the door. Doors will open promptly at 7pm. With the double ring setup for the
event, seating will be more limited than usual due to space. If you are
purchasing tickets at the door, we advise you to show up early.
The main event tonight features the big three team War Games style match for
control of IWA Mid-South Wrestling. The teams represent Ian Rotten, Jim Fannin's
Family, and Ed Chuman's NWA faction. A new member of each team will be sent into
the match at time intervals. Once all fifteen are in the cage, The Match Beyond
begins, where the only way to eliminate a team is to make a member of the team
submit. It will be elimination style until one team is left standing.
