IWA Mid-South News for 06.17.05
--by Stacy McMackin, Moderator--
- MIDLOTHIAN TONIGHT! PUNK VS. LYNN!
- HAMMOND TOMORROW! SABU VS. IAN!
- 2005 TPI TICKETS GO ON SALE SATURDAY!
IWA Mid-South Wrestling returns to action TONIGHT, Friday, 6/17, to the Park
District Recereation Center in Midlothian, IL. Bell time is 7:30pm. Tickets
are $25, $20, and just $15 general admission, and will be available at the door.
Directions can be found below. Ten big matches in all!
A few changes had to be made to the lineups for this weekend due to travel
issues (concerning D-Lo Brown and Samoa Joe). We've restructured the shows to
accomodate these changes. Both D-Lo and Joe will be back in IWA-MS action as
soon as possible. Additionally, Delirious will only be available for Friday's
event, as he is scheduled to appear on Sunday's TNA pay-per-view, and his travel
schedule necessitates him leaving for Florida early Saturday.
Jerry Lynn has been added to Friday's event to fill D-Lo's scheduled spot
against CM Punk, in what may wind up being Punk's final match for IWA-MS before
heading to the WWE. Ian Rotten will battle Sabu in D-Lo's place on Saturday's
card.
Here's a look at the card for tonight in Midlothian...
***IWA World Heavyweight Title Match***
[Champion] JIMMY JACOBS vs. DANNY DANIELS
***Rematch from IWA-MS 6th Anniversary Show***
CM PUNK vs. JERRY LYNN
***IWA Light Heavyweight Title Match***
[Champion] JOSH ABERCROMBIE vs. BRANDON THOMASELLI
***IWA World Tag Team Title Match***
[Champions] VITO & SAL THOMASELLI vs. TRIK DAVIS & RYAN BOZ
***Non-Title Women's Attraction***
MICKIE KNUCKLES vs. RAIN
IAN ROTTEN vs. "Anarchist" ARIK CANNON
BRAD BRADLEY vs. "Underwear Model" ERIC PRIEST
DELIRIOUS vs. TYLER BLACK
"Spyder" NATE WEBB vs. MAREK BRAVE
MARK WOLF vs. "The Human Rulebook" CHANDLER McCLURE
Then tomorrow night, Saturday, 6/18, we're back at the National Guard Armory
(2530 173rd Street) in Hammond, IN. Bell time is 7:30pm. Tickets are $25, $20,
and just $15 general admission, and will be available at the door. The
Hammond Armory is just two miles away from the Lincoln Center in Highland.
Directions can be found below.
Among the matches on the card Saturday night in Hammond is SABU taking on IAN
ROTTEN. Plus, if Josh Abercrombie is successful in defending the Light
Heavyweight Title on Friday night against Brandon Thomaselli, it will be Josh
taking
on MATT SYDAL in a Two out of Three Falls bout on Saturday. The remainder of
the Hammond card will be determined by what transpires on Friday night's
Midlothian show. Look for a Hammond lineup to be posted on the IWA-MS message
board
late Friday night after Midlothian concludes.
Please take note that "2005 Ted Petty Invitational" ringside tickets will go
on sale on Saturday night. Cost is $60 for first and second row tickets to the
entire weekend of events. These are sure to go fast, so if you want to
priority seating for this year's TPI (which will take place on 9/23 & 9/24 in
Hammond at the Armory), make sure to pick up your tickets on Saturday night.
We will have approximately thirty VHS copies of the 6/11 Philadelphia, PA
event at the merchandise tables at this weekend's shows in Midlo and Hammond!
The upcoming show schedule has been altered somewhat. IWA-MS management has
made the decision to put live events in Vincennes, IN at the Armory on hold
until college is back in session (we've thus removed the 6/25 event from the
schedule). The scheduled 6/24 show in Salem, IN at the Armory has been moved to
7/1, to make it a double shot weekend with 7/2 "No Blood, No Guts, No Glory
2005" in Valparaiso, IN. The return date for the Civic Center in Herrin, IL has
al
so been set, and will be 7/29. Already signed for that show are Jerry Lynn and
Tracy Smothers.

We'd like to thank all of the fans who attended our debut show in
Philadelphia this past Saturday afternoon. We appreciate the support from the
east coast
wrestling fans who have followed IWA-MS via home video, as well as the fans in
the midwest and mid-south region that made the trip to Philly for the event.
For those who haven't yet seen Whacks' ringside photos from the 6/11 show,
they're currently on the web. The link to his gallery, as well as RandomFan's

In case you missed them, here are the results from our 6/11 event in
Philadelphia, PA...
IWA Mid-South Wrestling held a matinee show at the New Alhambra Sports Center
(the former ECW Arena/Viking Hall) in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday afternoon,
6/11. Here's what went down...
1. JOSH ABERCROMBIE def. DELIRIOUS with the Phoenix Splash to win the IWA
Light Heavyweight Title in the opening contest.
2. "The Notorious 187" HOMICIDE def. CM PUNK (w/ his ROH students) with an
inside cradle. After the match, IAN ROTTEN thanked Punk for his contributions to
IWA-MS and wished him well in whatever he decides for his future in
wrestling. This Friday in Midlothian, IL, Punk will face D-LO BROWN in what
could wind
u p being of his final IWA-MS matches.
3. MICKIE KNUCKLES def. MsCHIF & ALLISON DANGER in a Three-Way Elimination
Match to win the NWA Midwest/IWA Mid-South Women's Title. Danger was the first
wrestler eliminated from the match after MsChif blew red mist in her eyes and
she couldn't continue. MsChif busted Mickie open with a running knee strike in
the corner with her spiked vest over Mickie's face. Mickie scored the deciding
pinfall following the shining kick to the face. IAN ROTTEN and several IWA-MS
wrestlers joined a bloody Mickie in the ring following her victory to
congratulate her on achieving her dream.
4. "Double C" CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI (w/ Jade Chung) def. "Wild Eyed Southern
Boy" TRACY SMOTHERS with use of a chain behind the referee's back.
5. "The Iron Saints" VITO & SAL THOMASELLI won a Six-Way Elimination Tables
Match to become the new IWA World Tag Team Titles. ERIC PRIEST came to the ring
first and informed the fans that SILAS YOUNG was unable to make it to
Philadelphia, but he got an ECW legend to be his partner, and introduced CHAD
AUSTIN.
They battled with the ROH students DAVEY ANDREWS & SHANE HAGADORN (who
entered themselves into competition at the last minute) for the first two
minutes,
before JIM FANNIN & JADE CHUNG'S duo of EDDIE KINGSTON & BJ WHITMER entered the
fray. Kingston eliminated both teams when he powerbombed Hagadorn on top of
Austin, who was laying on a table, simultaneously eliminating both teams.
Reigning champions TRIK DAVIS & RYAN BOZ were the next team to enter, followed
by
"The Iron Saints" of VITO & SAL THOMASELLI, and then BRANDON THOMASELLI & "The
New Age Punisher" B-BOY. All of the teams fought for the next several
minutes, with Whitmer hitting an exploder suplex through a table on Boz to
eliminate
the champs. Whitmer & Kingston were then eliminated when Brandon superbombed
Chung through Whitmer, who was laying on a table. Vito & Sal then scored the
deciding elimination when they hit the double stomp off the top rope to the
floor through a table on Brandon.
6. IAN ROTTEN & AXL ROTTEN & "Spyder" NATE WEBB def. MAD MAN PONDO & JC
BAILEY & "Mr. Insanity" TOBY KLEIN in a Hardcore Rules Six-Man Tag Team Match
when
Ian & Axl sandwiched the head of Pondo between two simultaneous chairhsots.
Ian explained to the fans that their original partner BALLS MAHONEY had decided
to not work the show due to wanting more money, but they convinced Webb to
participate. After the match, Ian assured the Philly fans that IWA-MS would
return in the future.
7. DANNY DANIELS def. "Anarchist" ARIK CANNNON in the first pairing of the
Gauntlet Series for an IWA World Heavyweight Title shot after a tombstone
piledriver.
8. CHRIS HERO def. DANNY DANIELS with the Hangman's Clutch in the second
Gauntlet Series pairing to earn the title shot.
9. JIMMY JACOBS retained the IWA World Heavyweight Title against CHRIS HERO
after throwing powder in his eyes and hitting the back senton off the top rope.
10. SAMOA JOE def. THE NECRO BUTCHER in the main event of the evening via
knockout following several knee strikes and a kick to the side of the head.
Afterwards, IAN ROTTEN told the fans he would give them a rematch between the
two
men.
NOTES: The event was filmed for VHS & DVD release by Smart Mark Video, with
commentary by Dave Prazak, Jim Fannin, Steve Mack, CM Punk, Tracy Smothers,
Allison Danger, and Eddie Kingston.
