IWA Mid-South News for 05.22.05
--by Stacy McMackin, Moderator--

IWA Mid-South Wrestling, in association with NWA Midwest, returned to the
National Guard Armory in Vincennes, IN on Saturday night, 5/21. Here's what went
down...

1. TYLER BLACK won a battle royal to officially earn a title shot at the NWA
Midwest X Division Championship, currently held by MATT SYDAL. Though Sydal
had previously agreed to give Black a title match the next time they face one
another, I guess you could say that Black's battle royal victory now makes it
official. The order of elimination from the battle royal also determined several
of the undercard bouts for the evening.

2. VITO THOMASELLI def. "The Human Rulebook" CHANDLER McCLURE & THURSTON
BROOKS in a three-way contest when he pinned Brooks following a Saito suplex.

3. TRIK DAVIS def. JOSH ABERCROMBIE with the Spinning Trik Kabob (tornado
tomikaze).

4. JAMES GIBSON def. BJ WHITMER to earn a future IWA World Heavyweight Title
shot. IWA Champ JIMMY JACOBS did color commentary during the match. After
Gibson scored the victory, Jacobs entered the ring and extended his hand for
Gibson to shake it, only for Whitmer to attack Gibson from behind. Jacobs and
Whitmer put the boots to Gibson until TRIK DAVIS, JOSH ABERCROMBIE, and BRANDON
THOMASELLI made the save.

5. SAL THOMASELLI def. TYLER BLACK with a handful of Black's pants.

6. JIMMY JACOBS def. BRANDON THOMASELLI in a Title Versus Title contest to
retain the IWA World Heavyweight Title, and win the NWA Indiana State Title.
During the match, Jacobs pulled a Rey Mysterio mask out of his ring jacket
pocket, and put the mask on Brandon's head (much like Eddie Guerrero did to
Jacobs
two weeks ago on television). During the closing moments, SAL & VITO THOMASELLI
made their way to ringside. With Sal distracting referee OLLIE THARP, Vito
blasted Brandon over the head with a steel chair, leading to Jacobs scoring the
pinfall. All three men, as well as BJ WHITMER continued to assault Brandon
after the bell, until JAMES GIBSON, TRIK DAVIS, and JOSH ABERCROMBIE hit the
ring
to make the save. DAVE PRAZAK then approached the ring, and stated that since
IAN ROTTEN was unable to oversee the evening's event (due to participating in
a tribute show for CHRIS CANDIDO in New York), he was given reign over the
show as matchmaker. Prazak announced that Jacobs, Whitmer, and the Thomasellis
would have to deal with the ramifications of their actions, and would be forced
to get back in the ring for an unscheduled tag team match before they could
get paid and leave the building for the night.

7. JAMES GIBSON & BRANDON THOMASELLI & TRIK DAVIS & JOSH ABERCROMBIE def.
JIMMY JACOBS & BJ WHITMER & VITO THOMASELLI & SAL THOMASELLI at 65:20 of an
impromptu eight man tag team elimination match, with no time limit. Abercrombie
was
the first wrestler eliminated, just before the twenty minute mark. Davis then
eliminated Vito following a snap mare driver. They worked over the knee of
Davis for a lenghty stretch of time, until finally he finally tapped out to a
Whitmer sharpshooter at about the thirty-five minute mark. Sal was eliminated by
Brandon approximately ten minutes later, leaving Gibson & Brandon against
Whitmer & Jacobs. Brandon was the next out, falling victim to the Doomsday Rana
(Jacobs jumped off the top rope and hit a rana on Brandon, who was seated on
Whitmer's shoulders). This left Gibson to fight against Whitmer & Jacobs by
himself for the next several minutes. At just before the sixty minute mark, they
attempted to hit the Doomsday Rana on Gibson, but he maneuvered Whitmer into a
victory roll to eliminate BJ from the bout-- leaving it as Jacobs vs. Gibson,
one on one, for the final minutes. Gibson was able to kick out of the Contra
Code, leaving Jacobs to resort to his usual cheating tactics which he has put
to use since beginning his reign as champion. Jacobs brought the title belt
into the ring to try to hit Gibson with it, but the referee grabbed it out of
his
hands. The ref was knocked down seconds later, and Jacobs then attempted to
give Gibson the Contra Code on the belt, but he countered out of it, and
dropped Jacobs on the belt to score the deciding pinfall of the match. Gibson
was
joined by his teammates in celebration of the victory after the match, and
reminded Jacobs that he's got that title shot in the future.

NOTES: The event was filmed by Smart Mark Video with two cameras for home
video release, with commentary by Dave Prazak, Mickie Knuckles, and Jimmy
Jacobs... Attendance for the event was less than 50 fans, but as we always say,
the
IWA-MS crew pride themselves on giving the fans that did come to the show
(whether 50 or 250) their money's worth... Look for the VHS release of the event
to
be available at http://www.smartmarkvideo.com/ during the early part of this
coming week. It will also be released on DVD in the near future.... We return
to the Vincennes Armory on 6/25.

To recap the latest information concerning our upcoming show schedule...

The new date for the "No Blood, No Guts, No Glory 2005" event, featuring the
double ring, double cage War Games match, is Saturday night, 7/2. The show
will take place at the National Guard Armory in Valparaiso, IN. If you have
advance tickets to the event and cannot attend on 7/2 in Valparaiso, refunds
will
be made available.

There are also two additional changes to the upcoming lineup of events. The
show scheduled for next Friday, 5/27, in Valparaiso, IN has been cancelled, as
most of the talent booked for the weekend had been set to appear as a double
shot. With no venue for 5/28, IWA-MS management made the decision to cancel
plans for the entire weekend. Also, the event set for 6/4 in Rensselaer, IN has
been moved to the Armory in Plymouth, IN as Rensselaer was double booked for
the date. We will provide more information on the event during the coming days.

Call the IWA-MS hotlines at 502-569-1701 in Louisville and 630-585-3958 in
Chicago.
