--IAN TO BATTLE AXL IN BARBED WIRE BASEBALL BAT MATCH 5/31!!
--STRATTON DEFEATS BAILEY FOR LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE!!
--CHRIS HAMRICK IS A JACKASS!!
IWA Mid-South Hardcore Wrestling presented "Spirit of '76" this past Saturday
night, 5/24 at the IWA Arena in Clarksville, IN. Here's what went down...
CM Punk came out during the opening announcements to say that he couldn't
wrestle due to a head injury suffered at NWA TNA on Wednesday night. Chris
Hamrick came out and told Punk that he would stay away from Punk's head during
the
match but that he came to IWA to wrestle the best and that he wanted to have
the match with Punk. Punk agreed to the match since Hamrick was going to stay
away from the head and the fans wanted to see the match.
Jim Fannin then announced that during the summer, the ticket prices are going
to be lowered and that the regular shows would now be $8 and $7, while the
big shows would be $20, $15 and $10 in order to make it more affordable for the
regulars to come every week.
1. Cash Flo def. Tarek the Great in the opener with the Oh Shit Legdrop from
the top rope.
2. Superstar Steve def. Jeff Hamrick.
3. Rollin Hard def. Steve Stone in the last man standing matchup after
delivering a DVD onto a pile of chairs. Stone had earlier hit a moonsault onto
the
pile of chairs that were atop Rollin but it hurt his knee. Good brawl all over
the building that saw both men bleeding by the end.
4. Alex Shelley def. Jimmy Jacobs 4-3 in the 30 minute iron man match. Great
matchup that garnered a standing ovation for both men after the match. Shelley
got the first pinfall at around 15 minutes. Then it was fast and furious
action that saw Jacobs get the lead after getting two pinfalls following his
senton bomb off the top rope. Both men traded falls to go into the last 5
minutes
with it 3-2 Jacobs. Shelley got a pin with a rollup with 4 minutes left to tie
it and won with 5 seconds left after countering The Contra Code (up, up, down,
down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start) attempt by Jacobs and rolling
him up for the victory. After the match, Shelley asked Jacobs to shake his hand
but Jacobs spit in his face and walked away. Ian Rotten got on the mic and
told Shelley that in light of what Jacobs did, he was going to put them in a
repsect match next week were the loser must admit that he respects the winner.
Brad Bradley came out demanding a title shot against Hero since he is bigger
and stronger, and thinks he could beat Hero any day. Hero came out and granted
Bradley his wish for a shot. This brought out a pissed off Mark Wolf who
brought up that he only has recieved one title shot in 3 years, and he deserves
it
more than Bradley. Jim Fannin then put Wolf against Bradley with the winner
to recieve a title shot in the near future.
5. Nate Webb def. Gavin Starr with his feet on the ropes. Nate came out to
"No More Mr. Nice Guy" instead of his old Teenage Dirtbag song. He still is
listening to the advice of Lollipopm even when she isn't there, as he wasn't
dancing or doing any high risk maneuvers.
6. Michael Todd Stratton def. JC Bailey to win the IWA Light Heavyweight
Title after piledriving Bailey through a table. Bailey was strecthered from the
ring.
7. Mark Wolf and Brad Bradley went to a no contest. Mark dominated early
working over the arm of Bradley and having a fire and desire like he's never
shown
before, displaying how badly he wants that title shot. Mark then went to the
top rope but Bradley crotched him and then knocked him to the floor with a big
boot. Bradley then sent Wolf into the support pole and busted Mark wide open.
Mark kept making small comebacksm but Bradley kept working over the cut.
Bradley had Wolf in a camel clutch in front of the dressing room and was calling
out Hero to save his friend. Hero rushed from the dressing room and drilled
Bradley and beat him back to the other dressing room, causing the ref to throw
the match out. Ace Steel came out and attacked Hero from behind leading directly
into their title match.
8. Chris Hero (w/ Lucy) def. Ace Steel to retain the heavyweight title with
the hangman's clutch. Afterwards, Steel got on the mic and cussed out Ian
Rotten for only giving him a title shot when some "goof from the east coast"
doesn't want to take the match. He demanded anohter shot in the future and left
the
ring and went to join Brad Bradley in the bad guy's dressing room.
9. CM Punk def. Chris Hamrick. Hamrick took a nasty flip into the corner and
got his leg tied up in the ropes and started screaming in pain. The doctor and
all the referees went into the ring along with Ian Rotten to check on him.
They thought Hamrick dislocated his knee and called for the stretcher. Hamrick
asked that he not go out like that and that they just help him up. The crowd
applauded his bravery but as soon as he got to his feet, Hamrick ran across the
ring and drilled Punk from behind. Hamrick then immediately went for the head
of Punk. Punk withstood the attack and got the win with a sunset flip off the
second rope.
10. Bull Pain def. Corporal Robinson and Mean Mitch Page in the pinfalls
count anywhere elimination death match. In the most insane move this reporter
has
ever seen, Mitch Page set up two ladders on the floor and then laid a table
across the top of the two ladders. He took Corporal up onto the table and DDT'd
him through the table and they crashed 6 feet into the concrete. This allowed
Page to roll onto Corporal and get the three count, but made him easy prey for
Bull. Severe brawling all over the building with the men using weapons and
bleeding buckets.
11. BJ Whitmer def. Stan Dupp in a preview of the strong style tournament.
Several stiff forearm shivers and kicks to the face busted open the eyes of both
men in this matchup. BJ got the win with two dragon suplexes followed by a
full nelson camel clutch for the submission.
12. Mad Man Pondo and Hido def. Ian & Axl Rotten in the fans bring the
weapons match. All four men got carved with a pizza slicer. Brutal action
throughout
that saw Hido and Pondo continuously work over the knee of Ian. Pondo said
beforehand that it was all about the money and nothing personal, but he was
definitely out to collect the bounty. Pondo and Hido got the victory after
putting
Ian through a door that was covered in light tubes and tacks. They continued
to work over Ian afterwards until Axl ran them off. Then came the most
shocking event ever seen in IWA. Jim Fannin came down from the commentary booth
and
along with Axl checked on Ian and seemed very relieved to report that he was
going to be ok. Axl then looked at Fannin and said "yes?" and Fannin shook his
head and then Axl clotheslined Ian. He asked Ian why he had to beg for another
chance to come back, and asked who was always the one to pick him from the
airport? Axl said it was Jim Fannin, and asked Jim to report what the new figure
was on the bounty. Fannin then got on the mic and said it was now $10,000, and
that it was his $5,000 to begin with and not Michael Todd Stratton's. Fannin
then said something about if IWA is going to close, it was going to close his
way, not anyone else's. I'm sure more will be revealed next week on what the
hell is going on, but Fannin and Axl left without going into great detail other
than Axl challenging Ian to a Barbed Wire Baseball Bat Match next week in
order to repeat the history of their PWI Feud of the Year in 1995, and collect
the bounty. Ian accepted the match after recovering, and claimed he would send
Fannin home to Morris, Illinois to his grandmother in a box.
