Dear friends,
Would it be possible to get the plans for a board holder as we have purchased
plastic boards and we need a board holder to be able to break them. It is quite
urgent. I would need a wood board holder.

I just happened to be browsing around egroups, and on a whim, I checked to
see what was available under tae kwon do. When I found it, I was
interested to see what it was all about. I am currently not able to be
active, for health reasons, and I very much miss all my TKD friends.

Greetings...
I was wondering if anyone knew of a resource (preferably online, for easy
resource) that would have the "standard" pattern definitions in Korean? I
found a site at one time, but I can no longer get to it
(http://www11.inticity.com/chance00/muyea/taegun/taechul.htm). I knew I
should have printed it out then :)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and
efforts...

In a perfect Dojang, in addition to Mr. Martin's square footage desires, I would
also like to be able to hang at least 6 heavy bags that would be permanent yet
not in the way during regular class. A seperate warm up area would be nice as
well.
Good Topic!
Taekwon,

I guess I would just like a rough spot were the focus would be on teaching and
learning Taekwon-Do. Our regular meeting place is closed during summer and
various breaks. During those times we meet at a bit of a run down gym owned by
local recreation district. The lighting is poor, the floor is coming apart, and
the restrooms aren't the cleanest but I love the place. (During the rest of the
time it is a teen center. It gets pretty beat up.)
For me, the perfect dojang would be very simple. I would like a gymnasium about
3000 square feet, a bit of storage and a decent place to change clothing. The
most extravagant thing would be mirrors on the wall.

Good day sir.
I must admit I am slightly baffled as to this myself. I believe that there
was a message on the old list and you had to reply to join. I think that
this is the only explanation that I can come up with.
Hope this helps,

Hello Mr. Martin, and all!
I do not have all that much teaching or personal experience, compared to
most, but if you don't mind an observation from a junior, I will try.
At 01:37 PM 12/29/2000 -0700, you wrote:

I started TKD a WAY long time ago, before sine wave, and I recall proper
secondary hand position as being a problem then too. My GUESS is that for
many beginners, who feel overwhelmed with so very many details to try to
concentrate on with every single new command to advance across the floor,
the "non-active" hand is the one getting the smallest amount of their
concentration at any given moment.
I can remember my instructor calling "Check your feet" frequently, but only
occasional correction of secondary hand placement at the belt. From what I
know of all types of learning, what gets reinforced the most gets learned
the best....
I got to thinking about this, and it made me imagine a set up that would be
great in the Perfect Dojang (what you could have if you won the Powerball
lotto and had unlimited funds to develop it).
Imagine if you could have a computerized PowerPoint-like display projected
on the front and back wall during class. Several slides showing foot
position diagrams, a correctly positioned figure with highlights to remind
students to check themselves for accuracy, maybe even occasional reminders
like "Perseverance!" popping up. It would cover the basics and let the
teacher speak on details and do more personal one on one interaction.
Just for fun, what other things would be great to have in a Perfect Dojang?

Dear list memebers,
We are now at the 23 members. Please feel free to post to the list. Good
topics are questions about technique, patterns, history or philosophy of
Taekwon-Do.
Thank you for your support.

Over the last few months, at tournaments (including at Gen. Choi's Cup),
testings and the like (including class), I've noticed a very bad situation
developing with technique. The opposite hand (in other words, the
non-blocking or punching hand) is not coming back to the belt level.
Instead, it is floating around the belt level, sometimes palm up and
sometimes palm in a different position. Has anybody else noticed this?
It seems, to me, that as we teach (and learn) sign wave the opposite hand is
losing its position.
Any comments?

Sirs, i am slightly confused. Is this a new list, and if so, how did I/we
manage to become members?
I recognise both Master Steiner, and Marcelo from the 'other' list and this
is my reason for asking.

Dear Master Steiner:
So you are NOT the creator of the [ITF TKD] list?

I have nothing to do with any list or part of any list. I get the same
messages as everyone else on this list as well as the other list so I don't
know where you got your information.
Master Steiner
And who is the moderator or owner? I know the owner of the other list
Master Steiner and its a person that knows Taekwondo ITF very well.
Regards
Marcelo

To the list,
This is a NEW list. It is in NO WAY an official list sponsored by the ITF.
It is not associated with any other list.
Currently, all messages must be approved by the list moderator. The
ownership would like communication kept to a minimum until we reach the goal
of 25 members. Currently, we have 15 members.

Hello,
You have joined a new egroups list dedicated to the International Taekwon-Do
Federation and Gen. Choi Hong Hi. Currently they are only 13 or so members
on the list. We would like to get at least 25 members before making the list
very active. Your support is appreciated.
Thank you,
