I recommend getting a very hard one (there is a lot of variation). If it's not marketed as dense or hard then it will probably develop ruts and be less useful...

Hey Folks, I’ve had ITBFS for 4 years now. The foam roller works, but it deflates over time. I use these small inflatable fit balls. They’re awesome....
