Greetings.

I was delighted to find this group. My doctor just diagnosed me with ITBS. I'm
not a runner. The ITBS showed up after I was treated for lower back pain. The
lower back pain went away, but now I have constant pain in near my hip and knee.
The skin over these places is sensitive: I can't wear anything with seams or
carry my cell phone on the belt clip because it irritates the spots.

My doctor (GP) says that once the IT band settles, she'll send me to physical
therapy. She gave me some pain killers (with instructions to stay on ibuprofen
to reduce inflammation), exercises to do, instructions for ice packs, and told
me to check back in when I feel better so we can start the PT. She did not have
an idea how long it would take for the IT band to settle down.

After doing some reading on ITBS, I was fitted for proper shoes. I've spent
almost a week hobbling around working from home. I've minimized my walking as
much as possible.

I have not been able to find a comfortable position for sleeping. Many nights
the pain has kept me away. I've used the pillow between my knees, sleeping on my
side with my knees curled up.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel like I'm at my wits end.

Thanks.

Kim N.
