ART

Hi all,

last week I asked my physiotherapist about ART. (Remeber, I am the German girl
that does not know the German word for ART)
I explained to her what is meant by this technique, and she did the following
exercise with me:

- I sit with both legs straight
- then I put my left foot (itbs on the left knee) next to the right knee
- then I tense the muscles of my left leg while my physiotherapist presses with
her hands against the left side of my knee
- then I release the tension a little bit and she pushes my knee to the right
side
- then I tense my muscles again, so that she cannot push further, then I release
a little, so that she pushes my knee farther to the right
- I feel stretching at the sinew at my butt during this exercise

My question: is this an ART technique?

Or which exercise do you do as ART with your PT? Please describe!

I have heard that there is a book about ART. Does it contain exercises for itbs?
If so, maybe one of us who has the book could scan the pages that show these
exercises and send (e-mail) it as an attachment to the whole group (or at least
I am very interested!). I would be very expensive if I buy the book here in
Germany, as firstly, I have to order it in the U.S., and secondly, I dont even
know if there are exercises in it that would help me.

Thank you for an answer!!!

Nora

Sorry Jeff, I don't who the Dr. is. If you are close to Adrian Michigan, I would recommend Physical Therapist Gary Gray. He has a clinic in Adrian Michigan. ...
