If you are hurting after just 4 miles I would say you may need to sit
this one out. It can get better but not that quick and not with
running a marathon right away. I struggled with IT band issues off
and on the past few years but found that getting a deep tissue
massage on a regular basis combined with foam rolling after running
helps a lot. I also now take Tylenol 8 hour before long runs. A
doctor told me this is much better than motrin. All this allowed me
to run a marathon last fall and am getting ready to do another. But
I also did physical therapy before all of this so that may be a good
place to start.

run it is hurting again.

Motrin on my marathon day or am I fooling myself? I've trained for 18
weeks and the marathon start is literally a half mile from my house!
