ITB Rehab post surgery   Message List

Hi everyone,
I am new to this site, but not to ITBFS :-( I struggled with ITBFS
for 2 years after getting the injury on a long backpacking trip out
west. I continued to attempt my normal activities (cycling, rowing,
running, elliptical) on and off for 1 year which made the ITB
irritated, got peroneal nerve paresthesis after a corticosteroid
injection, rested the ITB completely (only swimming and light
elliptical) for 1 year and am currently post op day 1. Besides the
swelling, I'm feeling great with no pain and definate relief of the
ITB tightness. I tried a light stretch last night and was able to go
miles past where I have been stretching for the past year!

Anyway, just wondering what other's post op rehab progression was
like? I'm willing to take it slow, but want to do everything I can to
become as functional again as possible. I'm currently doing 3 sets of
30 ankle pumps, quad sets, straight leg raises, and heel slides with
very light ITB stretching and walking with 1-2 crutches. I would
appreciate any suggestions as I would have stopped running completely
after originally injurying the ITB if I had any idea what I was
dealing with. Thanks and good luck to everyone.
