Have you ever had a massage? If not, it definitely helps. I would stay away
from the machine that gave you the pain. Stretching is so important, before
and after the run and icing as much as possible.

with ITBS and long distance
cycling. I was visiting a PT and the hip strengthening exercises and
stretches he recommended seemed to be working. However, on the 19th
of April, I was trying out some recommended exercises using the lying
leg curl nmachine and I felt a popping in the ITBS-afflicted leg.
Since then it seems that the pain is worse than ever - I'm feeling it
even on short rides.
Any thoughts? I've just bought a foam roller in the hope that adding
it to my ITBS exercises will help.
