I would like to make a comment here since you mentioned
"shoots". Normally, ITBS pain is not of the "shooting"
type, back pain is. Bulging discs in the lower back can compress nerves
which cause pain along the leg. Perhaps you should consider this too
because the treatment for back pain vs. ITBS is different. For back pain I
recommend reading Robin McKenzie's book "Treat your own back" or "7 steps
to a pain-free life". He talks in great length about the importance of
good posture and his back extensions exercises helped me recover from back
pain.

Hey Donna Don't forget to ice regularly when it flares up, and take anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen. I would also be careful about how much you are doing....
