Hello, Linda! Thanks for responding to my question. I get in all kinds of
weird positions when I sit. Sometimes I cross my legs. Sometimes I sit in a
chair "Indian style" when I'm home. When I'm on the couch, I usually curl my
legs up. I do most of these weird positions, because I am short, and seats and
couch cushions are made for tall people! If a normal-height person sits on a
couch and puts their back against the back cushion, the seat cushion usually is
a similar measurement as distance between the tailbone and the back of the knee.
Then your knee can bend, and extend to the floor. I would need to sit on a
kiddie couch to have that happen for me, lol! (I'm 5 feet tall.) To
compensate, I curl up my legs on the couch, sit Indian style, etc. Sometimes,
at dinner, I will think and put a stool under the kitchen table so my legs won't
dangle from the chair. My height (or lack thereof!) could be a factor in all
of this!
But then again, if I am sitting that way, I'm stretching the IT band, right?
And the chiro wants me to do stretching exercises. If I am stressing the IT
band by sitting in those ways, wouldn't my band be looser instead of tight?
Thanks,
Donna
