Hello! I feel a little odd writing to the group. I've written in the past, I
think, with an ITBS problem. I was dx'd by a family dr. as having ITBS, and I
had pain around my hip and the outside of my knee. He advised stretching, etc.,
and eventually gave me a coritsone shot. That took care of the problem. That
was a year ago, I think. I'm having pain along the outside of my thigh now. I
went to a chiropractor, and he dx'd me with ITBS. He is doing a physical
therapy regimen, of ultrasound stimulation, then pounding the band up and down
my leg with his knuckles, sometimes a "stripping the muscle" rub, and icing it
down. That has been helping a lot. I've been stretching only a little bit
in-between app'ts. I went two days without this therapy (which was happening
every other day), and my band tightened up again.
The reason I'm reluctant to write the list, is because you all seem to be very
athletic. You run marathons, injure your IT band, you knee hurts, and then you
need to rest it, etc. I am not athletic. I'm not a mega-couch potato, and I am
non my feet a good part of the day, going up and down steps, etc. But I am not
a runner, a jogger, etc. I have no idea why I'm having these IT band issues.
And, the pain seems to run up and down the outside part of my thigh and in my
hip--not really a knee issue for me, as is the case with many people on the
list.
I'm not sure if that Patt strap would help me or not, and I'm also developing
the IT band soreness in my other leg now as well.
Since you are all battling this, what is your take on this matter? What is your
best guess as to why I have this? Do you think it is the same injury that you
have, if my band is causing problems on my outer leg, and not my knee?
Thanks,
Donna
