In fact when I went to have the myofacial release done last Friday,
the therapist used trigger point therapy on the hip flexor. He
explained to me that this can get out of whack when knee injury
occurs. Have you thought about doing some trigger point work with
it? It is a hard place to get at, but it might help. If found this

You can also try and find a massage therapist that does myofacial
release. I was such a skeptic about this, but I find that having
someone else do this really helps me, but everyone is certainly
different?
