When you say that you're not sucessful, do you mean that you're not
able to release them at all or that you can release them bu tthey
come back?

I'm not 100% sure if its in the itband, or the outter

I was trying to figure this out for myself too. From what I've read,
the evidence seems to be pointing towards trigger points being
contracted muscle fibers, not fascia. This would indicate that
trigger points in the quad area are the quads. The IT Band doesn't
really have muscle fibers to contract, although trigger points in the
butt area will cause it to be tight. Anyway, I decided that it didn't
really matter to me as long as I could loosen them up.

Wasn't able to release them. Its like a little row of bumps in the ITband, and more in the quad area. Its like a little festival on the outside of the knee....

Yes, I bought a Gazelle. It is definitely a way to get aerobic w/o bending your knees. For me, a godsend (I have chondromalacia). Expensive, but worth it....
