The Isshinkai & Tomo no kai was founded by Kensho Tokumura and Arcenio Advincula on Okinawa. Both studied together at the Honbu Agena dojo in Gushikawa, Okinawa directly from Sensei Tatsuo Shimabuku.

The Tomo no kai (Friendship Group) is based on learning about Okinawan culture through Okinawan Karate and Kobudo as Sensei Tatsuo Shimabuku wished.

The Isshinryu Karate group was specifically developed for Isshinkai and Tomo no kai associates ONLY! It is solely an intellectual, cultural and philosophical exchange for like minded practitioners and teachers.
Guests are allowed to join by invitation by a member of the group. We may also allow guests from other associations or styles interested in traditional Isshin-ryu Karate and Kobudo.
