Description

Honoring Shimabuku Tatsuo Sensei Founder of Isshinryu

PICTURE: ISSHIN-RYU NO MEGAMI (Goddess of Isshin-ryu).

The Red border is Shimabuku Tatsuo Sensei's Bo Cover that he made around 1949.
Tatsuo had it with him on his death bed. He told Shinsho, after his death, to give it to either Nagle, Armstrong or Advincula. Shinsho gave it to Advincula, saying he was Dai Senpai.

The Isshinkai & Tomo no kai was founded by Arcenio Advincula who studied at the Honbu Agena dojo in Gushikawa, and Hamada dojo on Okinawa directly from Shimabuku Tatsuo Sensei.

"The Isshinkai talk about Shimabuku Tatsuo Sensei and his teachings of Isshin-ryu Karate and Kobudo while others talk about themselves."

The Tomo no kai (Friendship Group) is based on learning about Okinawan culture through Okinawan Karate and Kobudo as Shimabuku Tatsuo Sensei wished.

>>> OKINAWA TIMES, KARATE BOOM AMONG SOLDIERS, Saturday, April 30, 1960:

"Even if we cannot promote friendship between Okinawa and America through karate, my true hope is that if karate becomes popular in the U.S.A. and Hawaii, then Okinawa would also become more well understood." said Mr." Tatsuo Shimabuku. <<<

The Isshinryu Karate group was specifically developed for Isshinkai and Tomo no kai associates ONLY! It is solely an intellectual, cultural and philosophical exchange for like minded practitioners and teachers.

Guests are allowed to join by invitation by a member of the group. We may also allow guests from other associations or styles interested in traditional Isshin-ryu Karate and Kobudo or who are interested in Okinawan culture.

WARNING: Courtesy, good conduct and etiquette is required on this list.
The Isshin-ryu Dojo Kun & Kenpo Gokui are used as guides. Violations of courtesy and the teachings of Isshinryu Dojo Kun & Kenpo Gokui will not be tolerated.

Those wishing to join this discussion group MUST SUBMIT the following information:
