You've heard it was coming...

You've waited countless months...

And like a kid during the holidays, you knew it would soon be here...

That's right, it's the Carlisle Grand Prix presented by Yellow Breeches Racing.

Not only did are we doing the race but it's been given the honor of
being the PA Women's State Championship Road Race. As soon as USAC
gives it the final blessing, we'll be posting it up on BikeReg for
entry. The 5 mile loop course will wind around Hunstdale just south
of Kings Gap on 233. We've gotten some good sponsors such as the
Carlisle Regional Medical Center and L.B. Smith Ford to honor the
ladies with some good prize money.

Is the race just for ladies? No sir. We are also having races for
the masters 30, 40 and 50+ age groups. Where as the money isn't as
good as it is for the ladies (and come on gents, we know they are
worth every penny), the ability to race that weekend close to home
should be enticing alone.

So when is the race you ask? How about August 18. Yup, just a month away.

Now YBR isn't putting on a ton of events this year. We've looked to
keep it simple by putting on just three major races and maybe a few
minor ones. So this being one of our major endeavors, you know what
I'm going to ask for.

First, we are still trying to get sponsors to help fund the race, so
if you know of any company or individual or yourself, who may want to
donate some money to the cause, it would be greatly appreciated. I or
Laura Jones can help you out with the sponsorship details. It takes a
lot to put on a good road race and we want don't want to put on a
quality event.
Second, we want to keep the ladies and the old guys moving, so we are
looking for some good primes do hand out during the races. As I can
appreciate cleaning out your basement of used bike parts, this would
not be good for the primes.
Last and literally just as important, we need your talents to fill the
volunteer grid. We are looking for traffic control, registration,
parking attendants, course marshalling, etc...

We are also planning a kids event. Hopefully to have some bike safety
stuff and a mini-grand prix. Fun for the whole family.

So if you could offer up one of the three of the above mentioned
(Ray's wish) list, reply to my email and I'll get you more details.

Thank you so much in advance. We hope this will be an annual event
for us but first we need to get this initial one in the books.

~Ray
