weekend review and questions
Great to see Ulster beat Gloucs. Bit surprised to hear Stuart Barnes
(used to dislike him but value his opinion now especially since he's
lost his pro-Englishness) on Sky beforehand saying that he hoped
Gloucs beat Ulster as "Ulster have played the least rugby in the
whole competition". While I agree that Ulster tend to play too much
percentage rugby, I do think that's a bit harsh?
Leinster were very lucky in the end but at least they hung in there.
Bit worrying to see Byrne get the yipps in the line-out. Has that
happened before in the past couple of seasons? One other question to
Leinster fans – they say that the pack is being outmuscled. Where
exactly is it going wrong up front? Corrigan, Byrne, O'Kelly and
Miller are all internationals. Cullen and Gissing seem strong second-
rows which leaves Jennings (looks impressive) and Costello (still a
big lump) and E.Byrne in the front row (highly-rated a few seasons
ago). Who's not up to it?
The Munster pack is impressive and with Cullen (what a try) they
have the potential to beat anyone at home. As the Sky commentator
said, they have the ability to up the pace and when they do so they
really take some stopping.
Fantastic result for Connacht too. You can't help but admire their
guts.
