ABU DHABI: Pakistan and Abu Dhabi agreed to build an oil refinery, a project
worth up to $5 billion in Gwadar.
This project would be set up in the coastal city of Pakistan Gwadar and named
Khalifa Coastal Refinery.
Abu Dhabi government-owned International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC)
will hold a 74 percent stake in the Khalifa Coastal Refinery joint venture, with
Pakistan's Pan-Arab Refinery (PARCO) holding the remainder, the official was
quoted as saying.
The project will give the employment opportunities to six to eight thousand
local people.
The construction work on Khalifa Coastal Refinery project will be started in
December this year and the project is planned to begin production in 2012.
