A quick reminder about Dr. John P. Painter's NYC seminar this
weekend. If you are an internal martial artist there will be
something for you! For the Taijiquan player, the Friday evening
seminar will give you insight into your Tuishou. For all internal
artists, Friday, Saturday or Sunday will provide you with six
months worth of home practice material.

Shifu Garza, assisted by Dr. Painter, will start things off on Friday
evening (6p-9p) with Moving Step Pushing Hands. We
will look at sequential exercises developing the basics through
linear walking exercises, to circle walking and eventually to full
free-style play. As a special bonus, he will contrast the
strategies used in Taijiquan with those used in Baguazhang so
that the practitioners of both arts can strengthen their weak
points. As the Gompa's main Taijiquan teacher, and as a
Baguazhang instructor with 20+ years of experience, he is
superbly qualified to highlight the unique aspects of each art!

Saturday (9a-5:30p with lunch from 12:30p-1:30p) brings Dr.
Painter, assisted by Shifu Garza, with a review the basics of
Baguazhang and the "Dragon Upholds the Moon" posture.
Beginners will have special assistance to ensure that they
understand the basic body mechanics and footwork.

On Sunday (9a-2p with a snack break from 11:30a-12p) Dr.
Painter & Shifu Garza continue with the "Dragon Pressing Sky
and Ground" and "Dragon Carrying Ball" postures. Each
participant will learn to apply the building blocks of the Heaven
Palm system through these postures. Partner drills and
applications
will be practiced.
