Thanksgiving time is
about gathering with family and friends. Let's introduce
a new SVTC tradition of a Holiday Relay Social 10K. You will form
teams of 2 or 3 and the idea is to predict your finishing time in a
10k. The Social aspect is in that we challenge you to form groups of
people you don't know well or have not met yet and or of different
running abilities.
Note: The object is not
to see who finishes first but rather to see who can come closest to
their predicted time without going over.
**Warm-up on your own...
6:15p Plan to show up early to get the best parking and the best
warm-up; E pace running on
your
own.
6:30p Gather group, review workout, group short warm-up; "loosening
up" drills
6:35pm Main Set (will be
explained in detail @ workout)
We will have to start at exactly at 6:35 to be done on time.
option 1 (easier):Â In teams
of 3 you will run a 10k switching off every 400 yards.
option 2 (harder); In teams of 2 you will
run a 10k switching off every 400 yards.
7:25 - 7:30 -- core and stretch
segment... join whenever you complete your workout if time permits.
Let's have some fun! Also you might want to bring a sweater to keep warm while you are waiting for your turn.
And it was great to see so many of you at the Silicon Valley Applied
Materials Turkey Trot! Way to represent!

Muddy's spin is starting next Thursday at 6pm at Cupertino bike store. If you haven't signed up there are still spots left. Please email me (staffan.westerberg@...) or show up on Thursday and hope for the best. The class is a good way to keep that bike shape you worked so hard for during last summer. 2. It might be fun to have a little betting pool around the Kona TV footage. We could pool a few bucks and winner takes all, whoever correctly predicts the answer of questions like, "Will there be any footage of SVTC members?" or "How many Viagra commercials will there be?". I need help with this:
A. Please send me any good categories you can think of. I haven't had coffee yet and am having a hard time thinking anything else up other than the questions above. Just email me anything you can think of.
B. Not being a Super Bowl or March Madness freak I've never organized a betting pool. Anyone interested in helping me do this?
There are a limited number of extra bottles in this custom SVTC Polar water bottle order. I will have them at the next club meeting (which I believe will be 12/14) and at the Ironman Hawaii party on Saturday 12/19. The bottles are $7 each (checks payable to SVTC). I can also make arrangements to meet at a different time/location if you would like to get one sooner than that.

Hey everyone,

will be having the happy hour the third Friday of every month which for this
month is this Friday. This will be the last happy hour for 2009.
Location: Jake's of Saratoga

Saratoga, CA 95070
(408) 257-5858
Time: 6:00 p.m.
I will not be in attendance since I am volunteering at IM Arizona this weekend
but I hope some of you will be able to make it out and get to socialize with
each other.
I also want to see if people want a different location for the happy hours for
the next year and what the preferences were in regard to that. Please respond to
the survey on this link so that we can get a better feel of where people want
to have these

Theme: Strengthen
those Calves... Ever
notice how your calves feel after running on a sandy beach or soft
grass? While the soft surface absorbs impact and feels great on the
knees, the calves certainly work a little harder on push-off. Grass
running is also fantastic for strengthening the muscles in the feet and
the ankles.
Note: If you have any chronic calf issues, talk to the
coaches for options before this workout.

option 2 (harder); do 3 repeats of whole set, T pace
7:15 - 7:30 -- Bernardo will lead
a core stretch segment... join whenever you complete your workout.

Just a quick note to say Vineman half is filling up fast. The posted registration list is now at 1311 registrants, so if you want to race next year at this favorite venue for many of us, you may want to do that in the next week or so.
We are maintaining the same membership fees as last year and we again have a
discounted early bird rate if you renew (or sign up) before January 1st.
The early bird amount is $60 and it is already set up in the system. Renew
through the member renewal buttons on the old web site, www.svtriclub.org. You
have the option of paying with Paypal, or if you don't want to do that, please
mail me a check made out to SVTC.
After January 1st membership goes to $65.
This is a bargain (as long as you participate in something or other with the
club).
If you have trouble with registration, please be aware I will probably not be
able to respond to emails for a couple weeks, but we can get things straightened
out in December.
regards,
Your SVTC membership officer
