track workout tonight

Happy New Year Everyone!!

It's time to get back into the swing of your training again... don't worry, I won't kill you tonight ;)  We will take the month of January to re-establish a foundation, and end the month with our 3k benchmark run so that you will have some accurate information on your current fitness level and know the appropriate group as well as personal paces to run.

I encourage you to begin your base/foundation training now while you have time to gradually bring your body back to race-shape.  If you begin now, when everyone else is, you won't feel like you're "behind" your training while the rest are up to par.

January will also be spent focusing on proper form and technique, the key to running efficiency.

I look forward to seeing everyone tonight at the track!

Here's the workout for all groups, both long and short distance.

Warm-up: 800-1600 on own BEFORE we begin at 6:30.

Technique/Drills: March, Skip progression

Workout: Long and Short distance,

Fartlek run: 2:00/(1:00), 1:00/(:30), :30/(:30) repeat 4 x through

Strength: 2 x leg circuit, calf busters 2 min.

Flexibility: Yoga poses, hamstrings, hips, low back and quads.
