Hi Everyone,

I am ready and I hope many of you are truly ready to create a true example of
skaters coming together to work to create a future for what we love to do -
skate like crazy. I know you are. Are you ready to become empowered while
sharing your knowledge and experiences to help other skaters grow the sport? I
am ready. but the first step in life is when the sperm meets the egg. I think
that will happen for the Skaters' Alliance when a steering committee is formed
to create the foundation for a skate organization that will serve as a resource
for skaters everywhere.

As for what other people do, I don't want to work FOR a skater, I want to work
WITH skaters for skating. We can build this into a successful non profit.
We'll start by defining what it is we are BEFORE we vote on people. We'll
create bylaws as a group together and lay the foundation that keeps the
organization operating long after we have hung up our skates. What we will
build is an organization that will help other groups thrive on their own where
they live, not just in the cities where skating has managed to hold on. We
will be totally transparent. If someone asks a question they can check the
answer and know they're getting the truth. When a member has a problem he or
she will have recourse through the system There will be checks and balances in
place to insure that the people in the organization doesn't leave you gasping
when they sell off what you've helped to build.

It starts with forming a steering committee. I call for anyone interested in
becoming a volunteer for the steering committee to please reply. By no means do
I think we represent all of skating. All I can promise is I'll do my part to
help any way I can.

Totally worth it!
I started the Eastbourne Heely club - we have to close the doors after
100 kids or its just unmanageable!
Check http://heely.sk8school.co.uk

Since the accidents started piling up - the press have been going crazy
and as I'm pretty much the only Heely teaching resource on the Internet
(till very recently) and certainly the only "massed" Heely lesson is run
by Sk8school - So, I've pretty much been grabbed by all the press in the
UK as the Heely guru.
(Not I hasten to add because I know a lot - but because there is no one
else! Much easier to be first in the queue - when there's only a queue
of one!)

Anyway I've had a busy media day today. I'm doing interviews on GMTV,
just finished a piece that went out on the Sunday times and have had to
turn down the BBC breakfast show AND BBC 1pm news because I'm already
booked! (But I invited them to the next club meeting so they don't feel
too bad!)

There is a lot of interest in this at the moment - get on the bandwagon!

Any skate instructor who takes on Heelys will do well and probably have
a lot of fun doing it.
All the basic principals of Safety Fun and Learning apply. Wear the gear
and go heel!
Then once the lesson is over start a Heely club!

I rent a sports center for an hour - we get 100 kids at £3 each and the
hall only costs £12.50!
In Dollars thats $600 for one hours work and an investment of $25. You
do the math!

Not only that but its actually very good fun - a bit more limiting than
skating - but about 20 times as popular at the moment.
At the end of the session I show everyone what can be done on "upgraded"
Heely's (or skates) now some of them skate too!

Hi Skaters,

Well, are you ready to roll in 2007? The folks in the Napa Valley are ready to
welcome you back for another fabulous roll through the wine country as we
present the 2007 Napa Valley Inline Marathon and Half Marathon. The event will
take place on Sunday, July 15, 2007. Registration is now open at Active.com.
The link and event information is posted at
http://www.cora.org/NAPAinlinemarathon2007.html

This is shaping up to be the largest gathering of skaters we have ever had in
the Napa Valley. Due to popular demand, we are working to get lodging in San
Francisco and bus transportation to Napa and back for the races for people
interested in staying in San Francisco while skating in the Napa Valley. We are
busy every day getting more businesses and wineries involved Please stay tuned
as more details are developing..

We're about to roll out an entirely new effort as we roll into the 2007 season.
The California Outdoor Rollerskating Association is about to break out of it
cocoon as there have been a lot of changes going on. These changes will mark
the a new beginning in the evolution of outdoor roller skating and inline
skating in the San Francisco area and beyond. I hope you all want to be a part
of it, but that is not all...

This is a call for skaters everywhere, not just in San Francisco, that want to
be a part of a creating an alliance among skaters all over the country to help
promote and grow the sport we love. The Skaters' Alliance is being born. What
it is and how it works is going to be entirely up to you who have enough love of
the sport and faith in the future to do the hard work of organizing and bringing
direction. We have set up a list serve message group at
SkatersAlliance@yahoogroups.com Go and join the group. Let's talk. Let's
create the future.

Hi Skaters,

The S.F. Richmond Review is the local newspaper for San Francisco's Richmond
District. Politically, that includes Golden Gate Park. Check out this article
from San Francisco Supervisor Jake McGoldrick as he reports to the people who
elected him. It's great for skating in Golden Gate Park. Check it out at

Hi Skaters,

Tonight, the WAVE award winning show, "Skatin' Place" will show the skate
competition from the Red Bull Great Skate. Skatin' Place airs on ComCast cable
Channel 29 at 10:30 P.M. The show will feature the best skaters from Golden Gate
Park. The performances will be digitized and posted on a new San Francisco
website called "SkateGoldenGate.com". It's not up yet, but it's one of the many
changes that are in the works as we move into 2007.

We have began a new campaign to elevate the level of skating in San Francisco
for 2007. We are creating a new 501c3 non profit organization and plan to
follow through with taking inline and roller skating out of the toy vehicle
realm and into the realm of alternative transportation. Plans have been
introduced to build a new permanent outdoor roller/ice rink near the waterfront.
The Golden Gate Skate Patrol will soon be back rollin in Golden Gate Park, but
in a new capacity presenting "Healthy Sundays" in Golden Gate Park once a month
as part of the new :"City Ambassador" program we will be promoting. Our events
calendar for 2007 will be up. You will soon see more on this in the next few
weeks.

The effort has already been put into high gear. This Friday night at the San
Francisco Friday Night Skate, there will be a TV crew going along from the show
"Bay Area Backroads". They have always been great to the skate community. You
can check out the last interview we did on their show when we were promoting the
Sunday scene in Golden Gate Park at
http://www.skatinplace.com/BayAreaBackroads.htm

Come on out and help me show what a fantastic time the San Francisco Friday
Night Skate can be. This is all about showing what a positive, fun, healthy
experience skating can be and how our group spreads this unique energy through
the City every Friday night. Come with lights and colors. Come show skating is
not and never should be looked upon as a "fad" governed by the whims of the
general public or marketers. Skating is something we love to do and the San
Francisco Friday Night Skate is still great fun as the magic carpet ride of the
City.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! Take a look around the skating landscape. Despite all the
efforts of many skate related companies, organizations and individuals, our
sport continues to decline. THAT STOPS NOW. Personally, I'm taking a page from
Frank Sinatra's book and doing it my way. The time is now for you to get
involved and be a part of making skating happen. Even is you don't live here in
the San Francisco Bay Area, we're planning to grow towards you. We plan to make
resources available to you where ever you live so that what we are doing here
can be duplicated and expanded in other communities.

Be a part of the new beginning on Friday, Jan 12, 2007 at the Friday Night Skate
on Bay Area Backroads.

Even though I have filters and screeners on my messages I still do a
visual on them all before sending to trash. I'll watch the messages
from the Yahoo Site until I figure this all out. Thanks for the help.

Happy New Year!

Cheers! PHIL

Maybe its a competitor. Secret shopping happens often in industries. Whether it
is moral -not sure; could even be fraudulent. If it's fraud, let's find out who
it is! A little cyber cops and robbers sounds like fun!

My husband is a PGA pro (golf instructor) and he says all the golf
instructors get these scam e-mails all the time too. One version of the
scam involves them sending you a check, which you deposit, and then suddenly
some “family emergency” supposedly happens and the son’s trip to the USA
must be cancelled and they ask for an immediate “rush” refund so they can
pay for mom’s chemo/grandma’s funeral/or whatever - before their check
(obviously bad to begin with) bounces. Another version involves requests
for bank account info supposedly so they can wire transfer payment to you in
U.S. Funds. Of course they drain your bank account instead.

Paul’s right. Don’t give them any info!

Dear Sir/Ma,

I am very glad to contact you, my name is Steven Bechel, and presently I'm

contacting you.

I just mail to confirm if my 12yrs old/ 7th grade twins (Paul & Peter), that

offer them lesson. I so much would love their dreams to come true as they
will love to become the best two in whatever they love doing and I am ready

I will want to know little about your background and your current resume if
available. Also, will like you to give me the price of the tutor per hour.
Note that they once had a teacher, who lost his wife in a car accident and

Additionally, please give me your address, so that I can have idea of where

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Skaters,

There seems to be a problem with the YouTube link for the Healthy Sunday video.
Please go to http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Sk8GodFather and subscribe to
the channel. Here you can see all the videos I have posted so far.

Yes - I'm teaching them.

It's going to be massive here - our first session is set for January
14th (right after xmas) and we've said we'd close the doors after 100
people!

I've got a couple of instructors helping me out and until now I thought
I was the only person (instructor) in the world, bothering to teach it.

See www.sk8school.co.uk for what we're up to!

Certainly if you type heelys lesson into any search engine - I'm the
first (and often only) thing that comes up.

The phones been buzzing and the mails are piling up so I think a 100
people door close is a good idea!

As for teaching it - we're basically going to go through the manual
(heelys video manual on the web) - help them out a bit then do some
games. Later we'll go through some of the tricks possible (we can barrel
roll in them for instance). Though my MAIN idea is to use the last 10
minutes of the session to show everyone the "upgrade" for heelys IE
skates - and look at what you can do in them! ... which is my whole
reason for doing it.

Basically this is a captive sales pitch to 100 people we normally might
not see.
Sounds like a plan!

Tim Wheals.

Tons of children will be wearing Heelys after Christmas.

Is there any suggested ways to teach how to safely use these "sort-of"
skates? I have a pair - in fact I wear them everywhere - so do my kids
and they can be dangerous. Just wondering if anyone is teaching "How
to Heely?"

Hi Skaters,

The video from Healthy Sunday in Golden Gate Park Dec. 17 can be seen on YouTube
at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmGsZBHbdQ0

See local skaters as they experience skating on "virgin" pavement. That's
freshly laid asphalt that doesn't have the reflectors in yet. I think we'll be
racing here once a month.
